Hi I have a Model 87307 Hamilton Beach/Proctor Silex water cooler and the the cold water intermittently works but hot works fine. Also the cold water tastes funny.

Sounds like the fans have stoped turning for the cooling system. If you cannot hear the fans turn on when you flip the COOL switch this is your problem. Pick the fans up at a computer parts store like Frys. Any other part failure on this unit other than a loose wire is not worth repairing.
The heating and cooling sections are separate..these are not known to last very long. Sorry. (check the switches though - does the indicater light come on?)
