915PL-A2: no post, no beep, no keyboard lights

Starting a new build: no case speaker beep, no lights on keyboard. Case fan and PSU fan spin. PC speaker emits a tiny click on power-on, and nothing ever shows on the monitor. Please help.

map9966: those are all excellent suggestions, and all things I have tried. Grounded on ports, standoffs good, no shorts to case, 24-pin power supply and 4-pin aux plugged in. (known good power supply)

You may have a short between the board & the case. (check it).
Even if this means removing the board. That clicking you hear through the speakers suggest a short. Make sure your using (Stand offs) which keeps your board off the case's mounting surface. Check the back plate so the tabs are touching the ports comming off the board for good ground.
Double check the you have fully connected both the main power ATX_ 20 pin power connector & the auxiliary 4-pin power
connector. pg. 10. Connecting 20/24-pin power cable Remove & re-seat. If your PSU has a 20 pin connector make sure you connect the cable from the correct end.
Without POST you will not get video to load. Reset your bios
pg. 9 in your manual. Re-enter your bios and setup the bios settings for your board.

Let me know if this helps you reach POST?
Good luck!

Cdc-m computer will not come on the on light works case fans comes on but that is all

Do you mean that your computer does not turn on just casing light lit on and Fan runs only? What means new, memory and case?

If just lights on, fan runs but no image on monitor or blank screen, you should hear some kind of sound form inside of the CPU casing. This is called beep code. If you hear continuous beep or 3 same beep with same length, it means your motherboard is missing RAM, just connect it properly. If does not work or stop try a good RAM installing to see the result and plug your this RAM to a working machine that have the same kind of RAM.
If you hear one long beep with two short beep After PC switching on, or Two long beep with one short beep following - that means your Graphics card is not connected properly, or damaged or miss matching. If you do not have any beep code after switching on the machine, your motherboard may not have build in emergency speaker. Try to clear this things first. Please mention details of your computer with model number of your motherboard. Let me know updates.

On start up fan runs, no beeps, black screen, no response from keyboard & mouse. Unplugged everything for 30 minutes, then tried again, start up began then went to black screen, no keyboard, no m

in your case, there might be some problem with the main board.
usually no beeps will related to the processor error / mainboard error / ram error / PSU error

to check the processor : try to exchange the processor with the same type.

to check the Memory: try use rubber eraser to clean the cooper plate of the memory. then plugged it again.

in case if there is a power supply error, then try to exchange the power supply using other PC PSU.

if all steps above are checked, the problem might be at the mainboard. in that case, replacement will be the best option.

What does it mean when the red alarm lite is flashing?

As for the red light on the motherboard, thats just there to let you know that the power cord is plugged in and the PSU switch is ON. (It is in the manual somewhere, just in small type)

When you press the power button, does anything happen? Do the fans spin for a second then stop? Do you get any POST codes? Have you tried with the board out of the case and only the video card/RAM/CPU plugged in?

Unless you are hearing beeps from the PC-speaker there should be no real danger i recon.

Refer to this guide if you are hearing beeps and take the nesessary measures:

Good luck!

What does flashing light mean on a Bestec atx-250-12Z I installed new ram and now computer will not turn on - no fan, no beeps, just dead. I have now removed the new ram and returned to original ram but...

no PC stated, must we guess all that?

there are 2 causes,, (3?) fans dead, even inside PSU?????
1: bad PSU
2: the motherboard or all modules connected can short and bingo.
3: power switch cable fell off?

a desk top has 2 to 3 fans or more.

GPU
case.

at least the first 2 are there and MUST SPIN

Shutdown at Windows Log-in or Desktop

Hi kpspero, I gather you can get into you're bios? Once there go to hardware monitor (page 26 in you're manual, which should allow you to watch the motherboard temp & CPU temp. You're CPU may be overheating. (Keep the case closed when checking this). Normal operation. Did you add thermal grease between the CPU & heatsink? Go to page 4 & 5 of you're manual. Check that you have connected number 21, Auxiliary 4-pin power connector.
Two more thoughts. If everything is connected correctly & you're system is not over heating, try updating the bios. Click on this link which will take you to ECS's web site for you're board.
http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?detailid=533&DetailName=Bios&MenuID=44&LanID=0
After flashing the bios, re-check you're bios settings. There are many updates for the 915PL-A2 MB & for windows. Did you hear any beeps from the PC during boot up? Did you connect the motherboard speaker? If you do not have a motherboard speaker you can get one from this site:
http://store.cwc-group.com/casp.html Lastly, since you can get to you're desktop, from time to time. Is this a fresh install of windows XP? Have you installed windows more than once? If you said yes to either. Download the hard drives manufactures bootable floppy disk setup software/tools/utilities & use that floppy to format the hard drive & setup the drive. Do not use windows to perform the format. Install ECS's CD software/drivers after windows has been installed.
If you're system continues to has this shut down problem, post back & I'll go from there.

Good Luck!

My first PC build....gone horribly wrong =(

Hi,

Please CLICK HERE for more info on your power supply.
My guess is that your power supply is dead. If the fan doesn't spin it may be that the fan died first and the PSU overheated.
Now, if you are fortunate nothing else got damaged. You can remove the PSU (the mounting screws are on the back of the case, there should be four) and buy a new one at your friendly local computer parts store. Get one rated for at least as much power as the old one. We can give you a hand on this if you tell us what the lable on the side of the PSU says.
I should caution you that there is a chance that when the PSU went it damaged other parts of your system.

Goodluck..

No post beep, no video

had a similar problem with a box i built. Your power supply has two connectors. One long one and a 4 pin connector. Make sure that four pin connector is connected.
