becuase nokia 2610 from usa is a basic model and work only on Frequency of 850mhz and 1900mhz. which is only in usa. for india you must have either 900mhz or 1800mhz supported phone.

Caller ID not working in India
I too purchased an Uniden phone for India. Everything except the caller ID works fine. The caller ID wont work as the technology used in India is different. Try purchasing a FSK to DTMF converter or a separate caller ID box.
