Whirlpool Refrigerator WRF535SMBM00 Ice maker not making ice
Causes of a bad icemaker cycling thermostat can include electrical malfunctions, temperature sensor issues, or wear and tear. Symptoms of a bad icemaker cycling thermostat may include: Inconsistent ice production. The icemaker not cycling properly.
There are a couple reasons your icemaker will not fill with water. First thing you want to check for is a frozen fill tube to the icemaker. The easiest way to check for a frozen line is to remove the icemaker. Once the icemaker is removed look for ice in the fill tube. If there is ice in the tube the (water valve) will need to be replaced. You can melt the ice by forcing hot water up the fill tube. Another reason could be the icemaker is not sending voltage to the water valve. The fix for this issue is to replace the icemaker. Hope this helps you with your whirlpool fridge!
The reason to change the water valve with a frozen water line is because the solenoid is not closing all the way. This allows water to enter the fill tube of the icemaker and freeze based on the temperature.
Make sure you actually turn the icemaker on, there is a arm that you have to trip in side that will activate the solenoid that make water enter the ice marker. Also keep in mind that the air in the line has to work out so give it 24 hours to make it to the ice maker. You should see the hose in the back of the frig, that runs from the solenoid to the ice maker. Also check the ice maker itself to make sure it is plugged in completely. Good luck
Try this and add tap water to the empty ice maker. Turn it on if off and if after the water freezes the ice maker cycles dumping the ice into ice bucket and if the ice maker does not refill with water on its own you will need to replace the=> 2188746 Water Inlet Valve If the ice maker does nothing then replace the=> 2198597 Ice Maker Assembly Thanks John Tripp Appliance 911
Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it dumps the ice but doesn't refill , replace the ice maker . If it doesn't dump , and the cubes stay in the ice maker , replace the ice maker .
The switch on the icemaker for normal , runs the icemaker normaly . In the ice plus , a small fan comes on , blowing the inside air , over the ice maker mold , to help it freeze faster .
After checking the fill tube (line that fills the icemaker) to make sure it's not frozen , pour about 3/4 cup of water into the icemaker . If the icemaker dumps the water but doesn't refill , replace the water inlet valve . If the icemaker doesn't dump the ice , replace the icemaker . ALSO , make sure the fan which cools the compressor is working . Possible when cleaning the coils , a glob of lint or something , was sucked into the fan and blocked the blade from turning .
The reason could be several different possibilities. the water control valve for the ice maker no longer works or one of the many components inside the ice maker is needing replace or adjusted. I had a Whirlpool Model GD5SHAXNS in which the icemaker quit working about the same time (3 years old). I had water out the dispenser, I found that it was the icemaker itself failed not calling for water to fill it. I replaced it with a icemaker on-line for about $100 and problem fixed. I have been told his is a common problem with the icemaker in this model ref.
That could be caused by a number of things. Freezer temperature is too high, The Tube that feeds water into the icemaker could be froze up. Bad Water Valve. or Bad IceMaker.
Ensure the the Bar on the side of the icemaker can go completely down, against the side of the icemaker.
