Have you put original mem in slot 2

Download / install CPU-Z with both modules in and run program to see if it shows.

If all above is correct may be damaged mobo.

This is for your laptop from vendors site.

Where do I find the part number for the motherboard

Look near the memory slots. You will see labels. Also look all inside the board for labels. Write down the numbers you see on your motherboard. Then get on Ebay and look for motherboards for your laptop. The board on ebay will have model numbers on them, look for a number that matches what you wrote down.

Below is a link to the motherboards I found on eBay for Toshiba Satellite A100.

Resetting the bios password for Toshiba Laptop

It working with the Satellite A135

Power unit off. Disconnect AC power. Remove battery. Remove the memory cover screw, memory cover and the memory modules. Peel back the black lebel back from memory module 1, I soldered PAD500 solder pads (to short circuit them), install one memory memory in slot 2 and turned notebook on, it erase the password and boot without asking for one. Then power off desolder PAD500, replace mylar. Replace memory modules. Replace battery. Power up unit, replace memory cover and screw. Whalá!! the password gone, and you can enter to bios setup to set a new password if you want.

try look the ram module pins support, if any pin broken, or defective, to correct this you need a small tool to put it back on place. (only with power off and battery off). if some pins has not the right place, the computer dont boot.

Ok... so i had a problem earlier with my toshiba satellite pro involving hibernation, but now it wont boot up when i turn it off, or put it to sleep either... the power light comes on, but nothing works....

OK 3 things needed to boot a PC...
Memory, Video and CPU...
Easiest thing to do first is try and swap out a memory stick. Hopefully you have a burnt out stick of memory.
Open the memory slot and hopefully there are 2 sticks try one then the other.
When you say nothing works I am assuming you can't even get into the bios.
If you are talking about not booting to windows that is a completely different story. But for now I'd try the memory thing.

What ram does SATELLITE 100 has ? Is it A100 DDR 1 or DDR2 ram ?

This is the Off the shelves specification

It varies depending if the owner or previous owner or the store upgraded or downgraded it.

Computer won't turn on

you may try
1) check RAM memory, fine the memory slots at back side (in a small cover) cross chenge memories if there are two, change other memory if only one.
2) restore or reinstall your windows. if can not reinstall or backup you need change another HD to try.
is this helpful please feedback thanks

Toshiba sattelite

The problem must be the amount of total memory. Maybe the board supports only 1 gig. Chek the manual.

Toshiba satellite a100,wa-1 memory upgrade

Hi,

Take out all the memory cards and wipe the gold part of the memory modules.

Then insert the two 512 modules & check the memory.

If it shows the correct readings, then the two modules are detected.

Then insert the 1 gb & other one 512 module.

If it shows the correct readings, then the two modules are detected.

Then use the other one gb with the same 512 & check if it shows the correct readings.

Then the two 2 gb modules are fine.

Now insert the two 1 gb modules & check now.

There are ECC type & non-ECC type memory modules are available, chck which one your computer supports & which type you have.

If it shows the correct readings, then the two modules are detected and fine.

Then you can also swap the slot and check if any memory module is not detectd correctly.

Some have four slots & i dont know how many slots your laptop have.

Good Luck.
