Hey Judith, I have had a similar problem with my wife's Dell laptop. Unfortunately, the only solution was to replace the battery. Laptop batteries do not last forever. I know some methods to reset bios password.
1. The best and easiest method: Close OS and shut down the electricity power of computer. Open your computer box, take out the cmos battery from the mainboard. Then the bios password will be reset to blank. Put it back after a few minutes.
2. Follow some hard tutorials, it is difficult to do. It is better that you are a expert. For example this tutorial: reset BIOS Password?

Probably the connector between screen and mobo has come loose, it a common problem, I had the problem on a Tx1000, remove the battery, and underneath is a small casing, remove that and there should be several connectors, check and see if they are all inserted

Try power draining your computer first. remove battery and ac adapter, then press and hold power button for 15-20 sec. Expect no response since there is no power source. After that, try if pc will now turn on. If it still wont, possibly it will be needing a motherboard replacement.

Go on your manufacturer's website, find the maintenance manual, find where is located the battery and just remove it for a few seconds it may remove the password on your bios. Good Luck!

I PUT A HEAT SINK FROM A CPU AND ATTACHED COOLING FAN TO THE HEAT SINK
AND THAN ATTACH IT TO THE BLACK OBLONG LONG RECTANGLE BOX LIKE OBJECT AND IT WILL STAY VERY COOL AND ALSO SAVE THE BATTARY FROM OVER HEATING AND DAMAGING THE BATTERY.
