Unfortunately, your recorder is picking up a signal in the broadcast that copy-protects the show. The recorder is programmed to forbid copying of protected material. Depending on the source of the copy-protection, you may be able to block out the copy protection signal with a hardware filter. One example of these would be the Sima CT-2 that is placed between the S-out of the receiver and the S-in of the recorder.

I hope this helps.

(One common sources with this issue: a DVR that passes on the copy protection to an attached DVD recorder. Particularly some of the new Satellite/Cable receivers with built-in DVRs. The non-DVR models of the products usually filter out the copy-protection.)

This may be a copy protected DVD. A DVD with copyright protection will not allow you to copy or remove or do any changes to the DVD by yourself.
You can use Leawo Blu-ray Copy to remove the copy protection.

Lg dvd recorder wont record get message "service unavailable or scrambled"

It isn't programmable, once you have it wired to the TV you select function display and it should program itself if properly connected.

Having trouble recording TV broadcast to DVD?

My LG DVD recorder was unreliable when recording TV broadcasts to "standard" DVD disks. Frequently it would begin recording a show and then stop with a copyright error message during some commercial. I rarely got a complete show. Very frustrating!

Solution: Buy some DVD-RAM disks and this machine will become totally reliable. They are hard to find and a little more expensive than +RW or -RW. Because of the copyright programming on this machine only DVD-RAM disks will work in VR (Video Recorder) mode.

RECORD BLOCKING SIGNALS DETECTED APPEARING ON SCREEN WHENEVER I TRY AND RECORD WITH RH7521W

I assume you are trying to record from a VCR tape to a dvd? It could be the copyright protection causing this issue. A little more information would be a great help. What are you trying to record? VCR Tapes. Are these home movies or are they retail movies. Macrovision prevents recording. If you are trying to record a television show, it could be the digital rights protection. do you have it connected to satellite or cable.

I have an LG RH7500 DVD Recorder. It says 'Please Wait' constantly and it doesn't do anything else.

I have a RH1858 DVD Recorder (same as the RH1777) that also started giving this same message "PLEASE WAIT" - now I'm fortunate that I work with a lot of electronic boards and have found in the past that a lot of Laptops fail for no reason at all...................

The ONLY reason I could assume that the DVD unit has failed (LG says the Mainboard's bust and needs replacement) is heat

Somehow lack of airflow or cooling could affect the SMC (Surface Mounted Components) and the solder joints can become brittle, which then causes de-lamination...... hence the problem.

Stripped the machine open and started pressing on various IC's on the controller board (right side of the machine where the HDD and DVD connects to) - each one on it's own while applying power to the unit............ after about 10min's I hit the right component and the machine initialised. Pressure on the components and PCB allowed the unit to work 100% - release the pressure and voila the unit stops working!

Stripped the board out and used a "heat-blower" used for SMC's... and basically re-flowed all the components and solder connections on the PCB.

Re-installed the board and machine now works 100%!

All you need is to get someone that has a bit of experience and knows how to re-flow the board with heated air - DO NOT USE a normal soldering iron...!

Hope this info helped!

I am currently converting all of my old videos to dvd,my dvd recorder RH266 will not record some old videos, message "Record signal blocked" comes up, and record switches off. This happens even with some...

The recordings probably have a anti-piracy copy prevention signal imbedded which will block any attempt at copying.

There were several techniques used.

LG RH399H

I've had "Record-blocking signals detected" on my LG RH398H-M recorder off & on since I bought it almost a year ago. Also other minor problems. LG replaced the recorder 4 times with no change in problems. I became suspicious when I found that when these messages came on I could switch to any channel, digital or analog, even the weather channel, and I would still get the same message for about 5 minutes & then everything would be OK again. Recently I finally got the chance to try something. When the message came on I disconnected the input to the recorder and the message still came on! Again, I got the message "Record-blocking signal detected" with ABSOLUTELY NO INPUT CONNECTED to the recorder!!! Of course it's impossible for the recorder to be receiving blocking signals when there's nothing connected to the inputs. I wrote to LG again and threatened a law suit but so far they've been ignoring me. I would like to hear from anyone who can duplicate the above.

Recording on lg dr275

There is CGMS protection on your analog signal. When your recorder see's this, it craps out. You need to purchase a filter to remove this restriction. If you google CGMS filter or enter CGMS on Ebay, you will find suppliers.
