We have a 3CR858-91 3com router and nobody knows it's administration password. I have tried to reset it to the factory defaults using a RJ45 cable (DSL port to LAN port connected) but it does't work (even the Alert light never get to flicker every every 2 secs as written in the manual but is even not lighted anymore). What can I do to reset it then?

I have same problem. So the solutions is (in my particular case), when you done everything as it written in the reseting instruction. You face blinking LAN/WAN ports and no any activity with Alert LED. After 30 second or even 1 min (i don't relly know do you need to wait or not), i disconnected LAN/WAN ports and connected it again without repowering. Then Alert LED starts to blink slowly every 2 second. After re-applying power it was reseted.

Is there a reset button on the back of the router itself if there is then hold it for a few seconds and should reset itself. If not the try power cycling it unplug it and hold the power for a few seconds. Did you try leaving the password blank?

How to reset netgear wgr614 to factory default

You can reset your Netgear router to the factory settings from within the router manager. The reset procedure removes all user-configured settings and returns the router to the original factory settings. For this reason, only reset the router if you encounter problems that can't be solved with other methods.

Step 1: Check that your Netgear router is properly connected with your system or not. If it is OK, then press reset button on Netgear router for at least 10 seconds. The 'test' light should flash during this process.

Step 2: Now open browser and enter Netgear's IP address into the address bar. Generally, '192.168.0.1' is the Netgear router IP address but you can find specific IP address in Netgear router manual.

Step 3: Now enter your default username and password to log in to router.

Step 4: Click 'Erase' button under the 'Revert to Factory Default Settings'. This process will erase all your previous changes that have been made to the router and restore the configuration settings to factory setting. Don't interrupt the process until the process is finished.

Once the router's 'test' light has stopped blinking and the configuration page you are on has refreshed, the router has been reset.

I can no longer connect to my linksys profile. I use the WRT54G router. I reset the router password but when I try to log on to the profile it asks me setup questions and even when I put in my password it...

To reset your router, use the following steps:
  1. Press the reset button for 30 seconds.
  2. The settings should now be returned to the factory default settings, meaning any changes you had made would be deleted.
  3. Open up your Web browser and enter “192.168.1.1′ in the address bar.
  4. For the login, leave a blank ID and enter “admin” as the password.
The router has now been reset. Follow the steps in Securing Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G Router to secure your router.
Through the Web Administration Pages The second method involves logging into the Web administration pages of the router. Use the following steps to reset the router using this method:
  1. Open your Web browser and enter the IP address of your router. By default, the address is “192.168.1.1′.
  2. Enter your user ID And password when prompted. Hopefully this has been changed, but if it hasn’t, the default is no ID and “admin” as the password.
  3. At the top of the Web page, click “Administration” and then “Factory Defaults”.
  4. Beside “Restore Factory Defaults”, click “Yes”.
  5. Now click the “Save Settings” button at the bottom of the Web page.
Your WRT54G wireless router should now be reset to the factory defaults

Use the Default Reset button on the rear panel of the router. Use this method for cases when
the administration password or IP address is not known.
Using the Reset button

To restore the factory default configuration settings without knowing the administration password
or IP address, you must use the Default Reset button on the rear panel of the router.
1. Press and hold the Default Reset button until the Test LED turns on (about 10 seconds).
2. Release the Default Reset button and wait for the router to reboot.

the defaults will be applied ie;

192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 and admin/admin

Cnet CWR-854 does not work

You may be advised to use an RJ45 LAN cable to try the following, then use the wireless connection when all ais up and running. The default Login ID and Password is ?root? with password ?1234?. This Wireless Access Point?s default IP address is 192.168.1.253, You can reset this Wireless Access Point back to its default settings by clicking on Reset button, and then press OK button to confirm your decision. Note: you can also hold down the reset button on this Wireless Access Point?s panel for more than 10 seconds to reset its default settings back to factory default. If the reset doesnt work turn off router then on again first, but if the reset doesnt work, the router may need to be replaced.
