Basic on what you have said this means that the charger and cable are not compatible with one and other with your MP3
please do not force it to it again, so as to avoided damage on the panel of your MP3,
what you need to do here is that take both back to the store were you but them including your MP3 and request for both charger and cable that will be compatible with your MP3 system
make sure that it is tested and confirm working
piece of advice when ever you need to replace or do any thing that have to do with fixing you are to go to the store with the bad one in other to avoided buying the bad or fake .
