Linksys wireless adapters such as wusb54gc only supports Win 98SE(second edition) check your windows version. This is how you do it, click start - run - type in winver. If you don't see any second edition after the label windows 98 then it's not compatible.

Why doesn't my Wireless G USB Adapter (version3) work with Windows 7?
What is the exact model number of your wireless adapter?

You may refer to this link for a compatible list of devices with Windows 7.

Also, please refer to this link on how to manually install the drivers.

If you are using the WUSB54GC v3, this will work with Win 7 using the Windows Vista driver.

I want to put my linksys adapter into my pc and don't have a disk for wireless G,
Unless you have windows 98 or older, the computer should automatically recognize the adapter and load the correct drivers for it and you sshouldn't need a CD for it. If you have windows 98 or older, you need to change operating systems or the adapter probably won't work.

Wusb54gc connection with wrt160n
If the desktop is a Win XP computer, Uninstall the WUSB54GC, restart the computer and then once it boots up and ready, plug the wusb54gc, once it ask for the drivers insert the cd and let it find the drivers then install it.You will be using the Windows wireless configuration and see if that will work.
