Can't restore my iTouch to original settings

I lost all my music on my itouch and am trying to restore it to the original settings. When I go thru the restore process I get an error saying it can't be restored. Anyone know why? Is there a workaround?

I plugged my iTouch in with the USB cord and after trying to update my iPod as recommended by iTunes, a popup said that the update could not be completed because of an unknown error. It then said that there was an unknown problem with my iPod and restoration was needed. I have tried restoring it 5-6 times, each time resulting in and unknown error.

I plugged my iTouch in with the USB cord and after trying to update my iPod
as recommended by iTunes, I did that, then it asked if I wanted to buy the new 2.0 software, so purchased it and did the download until a pop-up said that the update could not be
completed because of an unknown error. It then said that there was an
unknown problem with my iPod and restoration was needed. I have tried
restoring it 10 -20 times, each time resulting in an error code - sometimes the same, sometimes different. My itouch is not usable in this state. The circuit city guy says its a glitch with the software, but I cant even restore back to an old version.

I plugged in my iPod Touch (iTouch) and was told that there was a newer version. I clicked update and have been unable to update. In fact, I can no longer use it as this process has put my iTouch into recovery mode. I have gotten several errors over and over. Error 13, 14 & 1604.

I turn on the itouch and see a usb cable with an arrow pointing the itunes logo. I can turn it off with the reset, but when I turn it on, the same thing appears. Tried to connect with itunes but it says cannot connect because itouch is password protected. I cannot enter any password because i can only see the screen I mentioned. Help!

Update firmware defaults your ipod/touch to sync-mode. Double check the sync settings "Devices" => your_ipod => "Summary" => "Options" => [_]"Manually manage music and videos"

Will not bring your music files back, but it's a start.

My itouch (model a1318) is disabled for 21 460 070 minutes. my little sister was trying to unlock my itouch while i was away on a tour a week ago, and entered the incorrect code. i have tried to force the...

According to Apple, if you have forgotten the code, you can unlock the IPod by doing the following:
Connect your IPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one IPod synced with), and open iTunes.
When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked, but you said that was not possible so you will have to do the following to solve your problem.

If you can't unlock IPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs]. . . you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod.
Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your iPod.
If you want to change the primary computer that your IPod is associated with, do this:
1. Restore your iPod. WARNING: The restore process cannot be undone.
All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data.
2. Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer.
3. Open iTunes and synchronize.
Apple also notes that company "representatives cannot unlock an iPod if you forget your combination. If you can't unlock your iPod and you don't have access to the primary computer, your only option is to restore the IPod, which will erase all music and data."

No vocal or very distant vocal, just music on my itouch

Since you didn't list the brand name or model - I can only give some generic help.

The problem sounds like a "sound profile" mismatch on a system that has some sort of surround audio speaker set up. One example of a mismatch is (there are plenty of other, too): Your itouch has only a left and right (stereo) output and you might have the system trying provide some sort of dolby digital effect (theater, adventure movie, etc.) applied to it. Since it is lacking the expected input signal (center, rear left & right) - some audio info is lost.

Solution: Nothing is broken - you just need to cycle through the sound profiles on the system to locate the the one that restores the lost audio signals. Note which one is currently selected before starting - so you can return to it when done. You'll have to change the sound profile whenever selecting the itouch sound source.

If this is too generic - reply with your shelf system manufacturer's name and model number. Then we can dig deeper.

I hope this was helpful!
