Yes, you can view the front of your WRT and press the yellow Cisco button on the front and hold it for a second. Do this after you have your laptop or whatever on and DSL connected after a reset of everything.

Universal plug and play will take care of the rest. You hold the button down on the front panel (doesn't look like a button just a light but it is a button), hold it until it starts flashing white and leave it for a few minutes so it can do its UPnP thing.

Hope this helps. Post again with more specifics if the problem keeps recurring. Also if you have changed your DSL password (bellsouth) online you must change it in the modem too.

Trying to hook-up a wirless router (Linksys WRT54G) to a SpeedStream 5100 for PS3 gaming on-line.

Before we configure router with PS3, we need first to make sure router is already configure to work with DSL modem. In Setting-Up a Linksys Router Using DSL Internet Service just click this link for reference.

I hooked up everything right modem to router, router to computer. but i still cant get internet to my computer. if i hook my modem directly to the compiter it works fine but not through the router

Some ISPs (Internet Service Providers) limit you to *ONE* unique computer connected through the cable-modem (or DSL-modem).
Turn the cable-modem off.
Turn the router off.
Connect the cable-modem to the router, via an Ethernet cable to the 'WAN' port on the router.
Turn the cable-modem on.
Turn the router on.
Connect, via an Ethernet cable, from one of the 'LAN' ports on the router to your computer.
Restart your computer.
You should be OK.
If not, telephone your ISP, and get them to trouble-shoot from "their" end towards your end.

I just set up a new linksys wrt54g without a sim card. now my home phone wont work. but when i unplug the phone from the phone port my internet wont work? do i need a sim card for my home phone to work?

More information is needed about your setup.

Do you have:

cable modem <--> router <--> computer
and:
cable-telephone-box <---> telephone

or:

DSL-modem <--- VOIP adapter --> telephone
and VOIP adapter -> WAN port on WRT54G <--> computer

Please clarify.

Connect the cable from the LAN port on the DSL modem to any of the 4- LAN ports on the Linksys Swicth (not the port Labelled Internet), then from any of the remaining 4 ports then connect your computer. Also try using a cross-over cable to modem from the DSL LAN port to the Linksys.

Changing from DSL to Road Runner Turbo

I'm sorry to say but you cannot bypass the modem capability of the DSL Westell Modem/router because that is really made to function as a DSL modem and a router at the same time, so the best way to make everything work here since you change from DSL to Cable internet just need to get a wireless router like a Linksys WRT54G that can make everything work again like before.....

WRT54G

Make sure that the WRT54G has an internet signal coming in. Is the other DSL router have a wireless component to it? How are you wiring everything? How many ports does your DSL router have? If only one, go from the DSL router to the wireless router. Plug in your phones (VOIP) to the WRT

Hello, I have a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router, My Problem is that when I got it I hooked it up and it worked fine. My daughter shut down the computer and now it wont work at all. At first, It started...

On the left front of the WRT54G wireless router, which is what I assume you have there is a light that says Cisco. It is actually a Universal Plug and Play button. Plug in the router to the DSL, the DSL will go in the port that is by itself, the others are numbered. The diagram that came with your router shows you where to put the DSL interface.

Now plug your PC into one of the other ports, and turn the laptop on with the wireless turned on too. Then press this button. It will turn from steady yellow to flashing white for a bit. It will use universal plug and play to set itself up.

Hope this helps. Also, if you want to reset the router to the factory state, press the button on the back of the router for 5 seconds and unplug it. Then keep holding it and plug it back in.
