E-1 error on my Kenmore microwave, will not work?

https://homeguides.sfgate.com/cuisinart-bread-maker-error-codes-13409633.html

Error code ERROR 1 presents on Kenmore Elite countertop microwaves with model numbers 56561582011, 16755, 56561584011 or 56561589011. ERROR 1 occurs when the unit has not received enough power to undertake a sensor cooking operation. Sensor cooking is a feature of Kenmore Elite microwaves that adjusts the temperature and cook time of dishes contingent upon information received by sensors in the microwave. In order to perform this function, a microwave must be plugged into a power source for at least five minutes previous to doing so. Thus, ERROR 1 indicates that the unit has not been plugged in for a sufficient length of time.

Emerson microwave not working 900 watts

The Emerson MW8999SB 0.9 cu. ft. 900 watt Microwave Oven is relatively compact, and certainly inexpensive, but doesn't skimp on functionality. We were surprised at all the options you get with this little microwave. It's only 20 inches wide, 11.3 inches high and 16.1 inches deep yet. The interior can still accommodate a regular size dinner plate or small (10-inch-square or round) casserole. Plus, there are 10 power levels, eight one-touch function buttons, six Express Cook settings, timed and automatic defrost options, and a rotating glass turntable to circulate the food for more even cooking.

We were very pleased with the performance of the Emerson MW8999SB. It did a fine job heating water for tea, cooking a couple of baked potatoes, reheating leftovers and steaming fresh vegetables. Even the automatic defrost proved surprisingly efficient, letting you enter the weight of the item(s) to be defrosted (4-100 ounces) for easy operation. Chicken breasts were almost fully defrosted after one cycle. We needed to stop and separate the food pieces to finish the defrost cycle.

The unit is styled mainly in black but has stainless steel trim around the door and control panel. The smooth touchpad control panel is attractive and easy to wipe clean. We loved the one-touch Express Cook buttons, which let you activate the unit at 100 percent power for 1-6 minutes, by pressing the corresponding number pad. We also appreciated extra touches such as the Start/+30 sec. button, which can be used to start the oven or add an extra 30 seconds each time it is depressed.

It's hard to go wrong when the functions are so simple. The only tricky part was identifying certain codes used on the display screen. When changing the power level, for instance, PL10 is displayed on the screen. Pressing the button additional times lets you toggle through the different levels. Likewise, the Auto Cook settings may need to be pressed multiple times to obtain the correct weight or portion for the food being cooked.

We were amazed that a machine costing so little also offered two-stage cooking, which lets you start cooking (or defrosting) on one setting and finish on another. All in all, the Emerson MW8999SB is an excellent value.

Pros: Touchpad controls, eight one-touch function buttons, six Express Cook settings, two-stage coking option
Cons: Limited interior capacity can only accommodate dishes up to 10 inches, no sensor

Sensor Error, Funny Smell and Noise

On GE models, "SENSOR ERROR" appears on the display when:
  • Using the sensor feature, the door was opened before steam could be detected. Do not open the door until stream is sensed and time is shown counting down on the display.
  • Steam was not detected in the maximum amount of time. Use Time Cook to heat for more time.
If none of these conditions apply to your situation, then you may have a defective sensor and/or magnetron.

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour. Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

GE Over-The-Range JVM1653BD Error code -FS-

"F5: Shorted humidity sensor, will occur if humidity sensor is detected as being shorted continuously over 5 seconds."

It may be excessive moisture on the sensor, or it may short from time to time internally, then "unshort" when it cools or dries.

Until it fails consistently, I probably wouldn't worry about it.

If and when you or someone you know want to check and/or replace it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
