Hi,
If it is DVD Drive, then sometimes in BIOS you'll also find the option for DVD Drive together with CD Drive. Choose the correct one and boot your PC.
Please come back and vote for me, if this turns to be helpful for you. Thnx

How to factory reset a Emachines Etower 633id it boots up but says operating system not found it has Microsoft Windows ME Millennium Edititon (from Windows 2000 Professional)

  1. Boot the computer to the boot menu: To do this, restart the computer and press the appropriate key when prompted to enter the boot menu. On most eMachines computers, this is the "F12" key.
  2. Select the CD/DVD drive as the boot device: Use the arrow keys to select the CD/DVD drive and press the "Enter" key to boot from it.
  3. Insert the Windows ME boot disk: Insert the boot disk into the CD/DVD drive and restart the computer.
  4. Choose the "Start Computer with CD-ROM support" option: When prompted, choose the "Start Computer with CD-ROM support" option.
  5. Run the Windows ME setup program: The setup program should start automatically. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows ME.
  6. Format the hard drive: During the setup process, you will be prompted to format the hard drive. Choose the "Full" format option to erase all existing data and perform a complete factory reset.
  7. Install Windows ME: Continue to follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of Windows ME.
After the installation is complete, the computer should be in a factory reset state and you can begin setting it up as a new system.
Please note that resetting your computer to the factory settings will erase all personal data and installed programs, so be sure to back up any important data before proceeding with the reset.

When I turn on my laptop pc every couple days a black screen will come up and the laptop stops processing. Why? How to fix it?

I would suspect a glitch in the MBR/software, a black screen with a white cursor in the top left, BUT, Try this , when you shut down always unplug, remove battery when you use at home connected to AC. At boot in BIOS, BOOT sequence, change to Boot from HDD first. Also remove DVD's, CD's from the DVD/CD rom drive, if the machine has boot from DVD/CD rom as a default, it will try to read the disk in the drive first, delaying a switch to second HDD boot. This is a general idea in the Boot sequence procedure: http://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/change-boot-order-xp-vista/

How to restore system

im assuming you have the recovery disk

Restart the computer and press the pause/break key on the keyboard.

This key will slow down the boot process and allow you to see the motherboard BIOS access key that you'll need to press in order to access the motherboard BIOS.

Press the respective motherboard access key and check the motherboard BIOS for a boot sequence.

Change the settings in the boot sequence so the primary boot device or the first boot drive is the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.

Insert the system recovery disc into the disc drive.

Restart the computer and allow it to boot up before doing anything.

A black screen should show up with the words Press any key to boot from disc CD/DVD.
Press a key to have the system boot from the recovery disc.

Allow the system to load.

Follow the on-screen instructions on how to install the rest of the operating system.

There are many different settings for you to choose.
If the operating system is just a little out of whack, you can choose to repair it.

The system recovery disc will contain important drivers and software for all the components connected to the computer system.

If you do not have a system restore disc you can search the Internet for drivers and software that are packaged for your specific eMachines model.

Restore the BIOS to their default settings so the hard drive is primary boot sequence.

This is an optional step.

You can leave the CD-ROM drive as the primary boot drive, but it will slow down the startup process by a few seconds.

hope this helps
