I have a KA KHMS155LSS-0 with broken door handle. tried prying the black inner door panel with putty knives & can't get it to budge. I can see the gray plastic clips that hold it in place (there are about 10 each on top & bottom of door) but they won't come out despite prying so much I'm afraid of bending the stainless steel or breaking the plastic. would it be easier to take the door off & take it to a repair shop? if so, how do u take the door off? Is there any more advice that could save me the cost of a repairman?

gently pry the plastic from the inside working from the hinges to the corner. you will need to put something in place of the screwdriver when you pull it out to go to the next pry position (about every 2 inches. i use apex bits. you can use anything about the diameter of a cigarette. then the screws for the handle will be exposed . it all snaps back together.

It would help for me to know your model number, but I'll tell you what I know generally.
Often the metal cover is held in place on the plastic control panel frame by several bent metal tabs which are visible from the rear side of the plastic frame.
You may have to remove your circuit board from the frame to see them and bend them straight so the metal cover can be removed.
The drawing below should clarify this.

SOURCE: How do i replace door handle
The door handle can easily be replaced on MOST microwave ovens by removing the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. The following link explains how to access and replace the door handle:
http://www.fixya.com/support/r3696942-microwave_oven_door_handle_replacement
The average cost for a replacement handle usually runs about $20 - $40. Replacements may be purchased at the websites listed in the link I provided.
The part number for the model number you provided varies depending on color, so make sure you order the correct one for your oven. You can view an exploded view of your microwave door here:

The door handle is a simple repair that can be done with the door in place, or with the door removed. You do not have to uninstall the oven if this is an over the range model.
If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you

It's most likely a blown magnetron thermostat, but you should also check the fuse and the oven cavity thermostat.
There should be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control
panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very
helpful when troubleshooting, & testing.
You can find helpful
exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model
number here.
Accessing the thermostats for testing and possible replacement will require you to remove the oven from the wall.
If
so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have
two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.
You can
download Kitchenaid / Whirlpool owner's manuals and installation
instructions here.
