First, if there is still water in the drum lower the outlet hose into a bowl and if no water comes out then you have a blockage but if water flows out then the pump is at fault. To clear a blocked filter on a WMA machine which still has water in it, first tilt the machine backwards and open the door, bail out the contents of the drum with a mug or sponge untill it is as empty as you can get it. Now lower the machine back down again and remove the lower inspection panel at the back of the cabinet now tilt the machine forward.....place a tin of soup or something under it to hold it in a tilted possition, then put a bowl or deep oven dish under the sump to catch any remaining water when it is removed. Undo the retaining clip around the sump hose and disengage it from the container, the filter is inside the hose and can be taken out to be cleaned.Click the links for Workshop manuals on Hotpoint WMA and WM machines

Washing machine won't drain

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Drain Pump Filter
This is the most common problem. Some have a small cover in the lower front put a screwdriver in the hole and turn counterclockwise to remove. There will be a cover to remove, water will come out so be prepared with a towel or wet vac. Clean this out. Other Machines will need to access the drain pump to get to the filter. This can be done by removing the back panel on some washers. On others you will need to remove the lower panel or complete front panel depending on model. The filter is located inside the large hose from the tub to the pump. Remove the hose and clean filter.

Drain Pump
The drain pump may have failed. If you hear it making noises you will need to remove the drain pump and check for obstructions, broken impeller, or not spinning freely. Remove obstructions if it does not spin freely replace the drain pump. If you hear it hum replace the pump if nothing is found inside. If no noise is heard check the pump for power. To do this remove the wire connectors and connect a voltmeter turn to a drain cycle, refer to tech sheet or service manual for proper voltage reading, usually any voltage would probally indicate a faulty pump. If no voltage to the pump replace the main control board.

Hoses
Check the hoses from the pump by disconnecting them and make sure there are no obstructions. Check your hoes drain, if it is a slow drain this can cause your washer to not properly drain.

Hi, the challenge is that it washes and wont drain through the hose until i remove the filter

Hi.

Check that the drain hose height and elbow setting is correct, or the problem will be giving by water re-fluxing into the appliance from the drain hose.
Access the filter and clean it.
Check for blockage at drain pump hose.
Replace the filter if you have not done it yet.
Check and clean the hose connected to pressure switch.

Here a general article that I wrote about no-spin problem: If you have no spin ...

Not spinning or draining

Remove the lower rear cover of washer.
Locate and remove the large black hose fastened to bottom of drum.
Remove and clean the filter inside hose.
Remove hose onto pump, and check for blockage or obstruction here as well.
This should solve your problem.
Please leave feedback.
Thankyou.

When rinsing/spinning the water comes out of the dispenser drawer

Hi,
I see this is under the dryer section, i am assuming its a washing machine or washer dryer.
If its leaking from the dispenser during the filling stage, this could be a blockage in the dispenser or as simple as the water pressure is too high,

If it leaks during the spin on the rinse cycle, this is generally a blockage on the outlet area (normally the sump hose/filter) remove the filter if fitted and check for blockages, if ther is no filter on this appliance, you will need to check the sump hose, this is located under the machine, mormally a black hose from the tank to the drain pump, remove from the tank end and look in there, Finally it could be a blockage at the end of the waste hose (grey one) it quite often gets blocked at the sink end.
Hope this helps.

The washer goes into spin cycle but the water will not pump out. I've checked the fuse and it is good.

hi there......if the water will not pump out its a fair bet you got a problem with the drain pump.....first open and clean out the filter unit...then try drain cycle on machine...ok....if not ok...remove and check drain pump for blockage....remove bottom hose to drain pump from machine and check for blockage in the hose and also for blockage in drum...sock etc...reassemble and all should be well again

Won't spin

Hi. I'm wondering if you have a "sock in the pump" situation there which might be part of the problem?

When you drain the machine and open the filter - I'm talking about the filter at the bottom of the machine where the coins and hairgrips collect - you may just be able to see deep inside the hole a little impellor which is the pumping bit. If you can see it, try to turn it round using a long pointy thing like a skewer or chop-stick. If it will turn, good; if you can see the sock, try to pull it out; and if it won't turn but you can't see the sock then you may need to access the bottom of the machine and feel the flexible rubber hoses that lead to the pump. With luck, you should be able to feel a lump in the hose which will be the problem. The hoses are usually attached by spring clips. Once you have released the clips you should be able to remove and clear the hose. If you are going to do this yourself be sure to disconnect the machine from the power socket and turn off the water first.

Another possibility is that the drain hose itself has a blockage. It's a yucky job but you might be able to get the end of the drain hose out of the house drain pipe, clean it up really well, then put some cloth like a handkerchief over the end before getting someone else to blow down it. That will often make the blockage go back to the filter chamber where you should be able to remove and kill it :-)

Does this help? If not, please give any further details you have and I'll try to think of something else. Good Luck!
