I lose battery life fast why?

While using the HTC G1 there are different features such as watching YouTube, listening to music, programs running in the background, using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth®, constantly synchronizing e-mail that can drain the battery quickly.
To improve battery life, refer to the following information: • When you don't need 3G services, set your phone to connect to a 2G network. To do this, press HOME > MENU > Settings > Wireless controls > Mobile networks, then select the Prefer 2G networks option. • When your G1 is not in use, press END CALL/POWER to switch off the screen. • Select a shorter idle time before the phone screen switches off and lower the screen brightness. To do this, press HOME > MENU > Settings > Sound & display > Brightness and Screen timeout. • Use the AC adapter to plug your G1 into an external power outlet whenever possible. • Turn Bluetooth and Wi-Fi off when you are not using it. To do this, press HOME > MENU > Settings > Wireless controls. • Turn off your phone connection to GPS satellites when not in use. To do this, press HOME > MENU, tap Settings > Security & location, then clear the GPS satellites option. • Close battery-intensive programs, such as the Camera, when you are done using them.

I have a g1 and it downgraded to 1.0 how can I upgrade it without a manual update

How to Update G1 Phone Firmware RC33

1. Download RC33 update from Google here.

2. Rename the download file from signed-PLAT-RC33-from-RC30.f06aa9b3.zip to update.zip, and place it at the root i.e the very top directory of your Micro SD card. (If you added the file to your microSD card by connecting the handset to your computer via USB [rather than using a dedicated microSD card reader], make sure to unmount it and disconnect the USB cable now.

3. Turn off your G1 Make sure it's completely powered off. Now again turn it on by holding the Home+End keys until you see T-Mobile G1 logo.

4. From the icon screen, open the keyboard and hit Alt+L.

5. Press Alt+S to begin the update. Remember, the update needs to be in the root of the Micro SD card and needs to be named update.zip.

6. Once it finishes, follow the onscreen instructions and press Home+Back to finish.

7. G1 Phone will reboot a few times to flash different parts of the firmware.

If all went well, you should now be running the latest update, RC33. Enjoy your new, shiny RC33 update, complete with Google Latitude!

To make sure all your hard work wasn't for nothing, hit Menu > Settings > About Phone > scroll to Build Number. You should see RC33 in there somewhere.

My phone is frozzen

Hi,

It happens when the process is manfuctioned or corrupted. I advise to do a factory reset. To do so, turn off the phone, holdon the home button and press the power button. It will go to recovery console, now select "Wipe to factory setting", once finished, turn off the phone and restart. It should take care of the issue.

Thanks and regards,

My t-mobile g1 constantly reboots itself and/or

Heres what to do. Take the battery out and put it back in. You will want to hold both the home button as well as the power button when you power the phone back on. Keep holding these buttons until a screen pops up with a triangle on it and a phone below. Wait 5-10 seconds, and then press the home and power buttons together again. This will bring up the restore options to factory restore the phone. If this does not work, you will need to contact T-Mobile regarding the phone issues.

After a hard reboot, my HTC G1 works fine, then locks up about 5 minutes later. I've tried both soft and hard rebooting. What's the next step?

Factory restoring is the next step. To do this, when booting the phone, you will need to hold the home button and power button as the phone is booting. Keep holding these even while the G1 screen is displayed. After about 30 seconds, the screen will change to a triangle. On the triangle screen, you will then wait approx. 5-10 seconds and then press the home and power buttons one more time. This will bring up an options menu that will let you wipe and restore your phone settings. As long as you have your gmail information in the phone, you will not lose your contacts.

My g1 tmobile phone keeps turning off on me? what can i do

If it keeps rebooting itself at the G1 and Android screen, you might want to factory reset the phone and clear all the data as there may be a virus. To do this, when turning on the phone, hold the home button and the power button even while the G1 screen comes up. Keep holding these until an image with a triangle comes up. You will then wait 5-10 seconds, and press the home and power button again together. This will bring up the OS screen, and provide you 4 options. One of these options is to wipe and restore to factory. Do this and your phone should work fine after you reboot again.

My g1 phone has locked and wont accept my username and password. I have changed the password on line and checked it works but cannot get my phone to unlock

Okay the thing here is you need to master reset it.
Here's how it works:
  1. Power off the G1
  2. Hold Home Key + End key for 20 seconds or until you see a "triangle with an exclamation point and a picture of the G1"
  3. Open the QWERTY keyboard and hit Alt+W
  4. Restored!
To do a soft reboot, simply hit the Home+Back buttons when you reach the "triangle with an exclamation point and a picture of the G1" screen.

This will reset your phone as if it were brand new and your correct user name and password combination will work.

Screen wont turn on

You are going to have to ty a hard reset. Don't worry about things being deleted from the phone, as your phone auto syncs with Gmail when you enter your account info again.

To hard reset...turn the phone on while holding home and back. Follow on screen prompt.

If that doesn't work try..

Hold home and power buttons
once phone is on, open keyboard and hold alt first + w
