Please try to reboot your laptop then go to CMOS Settings and detect the CD/DVD Rom and try to see if it is detected by your system. If it is detect ted then exit CMOS Settings and then load the Operating system you have and ope the DVD/CD Rom you have. But if it does not detect the DVD/CD Rom then i advice you to find a computer technician to help you fix the problem cause hardware problem is the main reason why it does not detect the disk drive you have, its either the connection bus is not properly plug or the Disk drive is damage or not functioning well.
Clean Drive: commercial cd/dvd cleaner + air compressed can with narrow pipe inserted into device to reach lens.
Update you sw from http://www.lightscribe.com/ (Control panel, diagnostic tool, application)
be sure service is started: as Administrator go to Control panel/Administrative tools/Services double-click
on Lightscribe Service, and if it says disabled change it to automatic,
then "start service" in the left panel. If is already started and set to
automatic stop and restart it you don't have to reboot to see results.
It worked for me on HP6710b with internal drive and with liteon external burner
You need to by a disk for cleaning your CD-ROM. The laser has more than likely gotten dirty. Someone has put a dirty CD into that drive. It only takes a spec of dust to do this. Always wipe your CD'S with a cleaning cloth from the inside edge outward before you ever put them into your CD-Rom. Never clean in circles. You can buy a kit for this at Walmart or a Computer store.
