Hi, the upper of the two watch stems is turned counter clockwise (looking
at the stem) until the desired function (i.e., format, date, time,
chrono, timer) appears. To set that function, pull the upper stem out
and turn CW to advance & CCW to go back. Once hours & minutes
are set, the stem can be pushed in upon a mark to start at zero
seconds. For the day of the week, turn the upper stem CCW until date
appears. Pull out the stem, to detents or positions, and this will
allow the day to be adjusted.

Hi, make sure you are in the hour/minutes/seconds mode. Press "set" -- the seconds will flash. Then press the "mode" again and the right minute number will flash. Press "mode" again the the left minute number will flash. Press "mode" again and the hour will flash. Press "mode" again and the month will flash. Press "mode" again and the date will flash. Anytime any group of these numbers are flashing, you can change the numbers by pressing the "start/stop" button. When you get the number you want, press "set" to lock in the numbers.
To change from 12 to 24 hours, get the hour numbers flashing and press "split/reset". Then press "set" to lock in either 12 or 24 hour time.

Mine is a Timex Espedition Indiglo watch. It doesn't have nobs that turn or can be pulled out.
