Ps3 hard disk file system

Wen i start my computer its coming up hard disk file corrupt do u wont to restore. so i restore but it isnt working and keeps coming up wat should i do???

Having same problem. When i start up playstation3 it says hard drive corrupt, press ps button and hit enter(x). I do that and it just repeats itself. Tried to call 800-345-7669 (sony help line) and am told due to heavy volume call back later. Though maybe there is anohter solution to fix myself? Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

Contact Sony if it is still under warranty-Otherwise you will need to buy another hard drive. The installation process is really easy.

Corrupted hard disk? Lets see....

You could attempt to boot up the PS3 in safe mode and restore the file system (should delete any corrupted data). Describing how to start up your PS3 in safe mode would just be confusing, so instead here's a link to the official page on the PS3 Safe Mode feature.

Follow the instructions, and then I'd say try options 3 (Restore File System). If that doesn't work, try 4 or 5 (Rebuild Database or Restore PS3 System).

If that fails, you could just replace the hard drive. The PS3 uses standard 2.5inch SATA laptop/notebook hard drives (5400 or 7200 RPM). They can be found online at any computer parts website; for example, Tigerdirect.

If somehow the new hard drive doesn't fix it, or you don't feel like buying a new hard drive, you could send the PS3 back to Sony. If you're under warranty it's free; otherwise it's expensive (150$ I believe).

If you request the repair service, they send you a box, you put the PS3 in it and ship it back to them. A month or 2 later they send you a fixed/different PS3. Simple, but takes forever to get a working PS3 back which is why I suggest you try a new hard drive first.

If the PS3 built in repair is not fixing the problem this means that you will need to pull the hard drive out of you system and format the drive with a computer. The link below will walk you through what you need to do.

When we start the system we get message "This hard disk file system is corrupted and will be restored". If we hit O.K. it start to restore but nothing happens after that.

This problem always happen when you switch off your console while it is saving data or reading data from the HDD, so your HDD file system damaged, in order to solve this problem you need an external SATA 2.5 hard disk case, extract your PS3 hard drive and insert it in the SATA 2.5 case, plug your hard disk to a computer, you will find that the whale hard disk is unallocated, so format it with FAT32 or NTFS using your computer, after that return your hard disk to your PS3 console, now, your PS3 console will recognize it, and it will ask you to format it, say YES!!... congratulation your PS3 console is working now

BUT REMEMBER THAT YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR DATA IN THE HARD DISK INCLUDING YOUR SAVES, IMAGES, MOVIES AND ALL YOUR STUFF

If the above solution does not work you would have to buy a new HDD for your PS3

My PS3's hard disk file system is corrupted

There is an alternate way to restore your HDD. Turn off your system and when u see the red light, hold the power button in front until you hear a total of 4 beeps (1 alone, 1 alone, 2 together). It usually works on second try. it should show a screen and say hook up controller with a usb cord. Then it should show i think 6 options. Choose the restore option. it should work.

P.S.- I just got the 80010514 error on my ps3 and my ps3 games dont work anymore :(

Ok, it appears that your hard drive in your PS3 is corrupt and needs to be reformatted. You can get an external hard drive enclosure and do it yourself. You would have to take the hard drive out of your PS3 and put it in the external hard drive enclosure and plug that into a computer with the supplied USB cable and format it. From what I'm reading out there, the external hard drive enclosure has to be for SATA 2.5" hard drive. You could probably replace the hard drive with a larger one just as easy if you wanted to. If you don't feel comfortable with any of this, then its probably repair shop time. I hope this helps.moreover,,Use your recovery disc to reinstall your operating system. This should clean up your hard drive and restore any missing or corrupt files.

If you are getting the corrupted drive message and the built in PS3 options are not fixing the drive then you will have to pull the drive and format it externally with a computer. The link below will help you do this.
