Trouble with ROTEL RDV 1040 DVD Player. Today I would like to share with you the latest behavior of my ROTEL RDV-1040 DVD/cd player. Whether it is a purchased pre-recorded audio disc purchased from GAME or MUSICA, Kalahari.net, audio files on a CD-R disc, audio files on a CD-RW disc, MP3 audio files on a CD disc, It does not matter. You put an audio disc onto the disc tray, Press the close button, Wait for the machine to read the disc, Press the play button, The playback will start. The machine will play track 1, It will proceed to track 2, 3, 4?? The WONDERING starts, - Will the machine play the disc up to the last track? Or will it stop along the way????? You listen & wait, The machine will finish playing, for example, track 4 or 7 or 9 or 15 or 20, ECT. The action varies from cd to cd. It even varies on the very same disk, after the play action was started again. Silence follow, the machine stopped all by it self. The open/close button has to be pressed several times before the CD tray will open. Now the play action can continue for another few tracks. At other times, it will sound as if the machine has been PAUSED. Clearly hearable, the machine is spinning the disc, as if in pause mode. The ?STOP? button can be pressed, the machine continues. The open / close button has to be pressed several times before the machine will stop & the disk tray to open. You leave the same audio disc on the disc tray, the ?PLAY? button is pressed, and playback starts again, at track 1. The very same action will happen again before the end of the disc, at a different spot / track. A CD Laser Lens Cleaner was inserted into the machine, to clean the laser lens. But the problem still persists. I mainly play audio on the machine. The first ROTEL RDV1040 player was purchased the end of August 2004. After using it for a few months, the player did exactly the same behavior. It went back to the importer / distributor, Meta Acoustic Development, 3 times. The laser unit was replaced. After playing a few disks, the problem was back. Meta Acoustic Development/ replaced the player with another player. The second player behaved itself, until recently. Is this a general problem on the ROTEL RDV 1040 models? Can this problem be solved?? Is it worth getting the player fixed? Won?t it be better to replace the 1040 player with a new model? I would like a good, solid, reliable, durable, no nonsense & trouble free player that produces good, clear, solid, true, trust worthy sound. Will the ROTEL RDV 1062 DVD player or the ROTEL RDV1093 DVD player be an excellent replacement / choice? Are they reliable & trouble free????? How about one of the YAMAHA DVD players?
