Your worm shaft or tine shaft and gear assembly are probably shot. Welcome to the club. Long live American manufacturing.

King Kutter 6ft tiller. It hit a metal fence post. The tiller will not turn, bogs down tractor. Where do I start?

You checked for a piece of post or rock stuck in the tines?

You should be able to turn the PTO shaft by hand. Suggest you disconnect the PTO shaft from the tractor and make sure the problem is the tiller.

The tiller end of the pto shaft has both a slip clutch and a shear pin to protect the gear box and tine shaft drive gear. See attachment.

If you are unable to turn the PTO shaft by hand with it disconnected from the tractor then likely there is something jambed in the tines or internal damage to the gear box or tine shaft gear drive.

Parts diagrams are in the owners manual. Manuals are free download at https://www.kingkutter.com/manuals4_14_2023_11_23_17_pm.jpg

How to remove a gearbox on a ryobi cultivator

I had the same problem, the engine ran but the tines would barely move on my Ryobi tiller. There were 2 plugs on the gear box. I removed them with an Allen wrench and added oil until it leaked out, replaced the plugs, waited awhile and started it.That fixed the problem, it worked fine.

The motor runs but the tines no longer turn

Does the drive shaft turn and the tines just spin around it ? if not then on the drive shaft there is a gear box and you need to open that up (without the machine plugged in) and check to see why the gears aren't meshing properly.

Ryobi ry64400 tiller tines won't move engine runs fine

then you need to open the gear box and find out why if it has a forward and reverse the the shifting linkage it could be stuck in one gear and adding the other will lock it up as well

MTD series 410 rear tine tiller drive wheels slip

I have the same issue with one I am working on. It appears the keys in the drive shaft are not rotating far enough out on the drive gear side to fully engage in the gear. I have studied and studied this and so far I have been unable to determine why. If I find out I will let you know. I am also trying to figure out what is supposed to pull these keys out of the till engagement gear.

Ryobi ry60514 tines won't turn

there are shear bolts that hold the tines on. they are designed to snap when u hit something big such as a big rock or pipe or something like that. they are designed to snap at so much pounds of pressure so u dont break any gears or gearshafts. a lot of times people dont realize this and put regular screws or bolts in it and run it. when they hit something they ussually snap the gearshaft inside the tiller. i have replaced this on my fathers tiller cause he did the same thing. so either u might need to put new shear bolts in or if u had a regular bolt in u probably snapped a gear shaft or a gear.
