I have a 41A5483 chamberlain liftmaster garage door opener. At very random intervals it simply stops working, the unit light goes out and as I press the remote or wall button You can hear two clicks that sound like a relay cycling. Then for no apparent reason it will restart, sometimes for a week or so sometimes only halfway up or down. The orange led flashes 5 times constantly.

First make sure there is nothing blocking the eye beams on eack side of the floor. like bugs spiders cob webs all can trigger it. wiggle them and make sure the eyes line up so that you receive a green light, if all ok try this, get a ladder and on the back side there is adjustment screw try to adjust the up and down pressure.

My liftmaster will open with the remote but to close the door, we have to hold down the wall unit. It starts to close, jerks to a stop, then we have to press and hole the button and it closes.

Hi, it is probably the safety photo beams out of alignment or not working, when this happens the garage opener goes into 'dead man' operating mode, ie you need to keep the button pressed for the door to operate. We have a LiftMaster 973LM model - the remote only opens the door, but when it starts to close, it only goes down a tiny bit, then goes back up. The "Inside" remote however, you now have to press...

Check the sensors in the doorway. They must be pointed at one another and the small light on each one must be lit and not flickering. Tweak them a bit. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors.

We have a 3/4 hp Craftsman garage door opener that has stopped working. It opened fine, but will not close. The lights on the unit work but the Training Light is blinking.

If by training light you mean the LED next to the smart/learn button then this is normal if it is random blinking. Make sure your door sensors are properly aligned and pointing at one another. Each of them has a small light that should be lit and not blinking when they are aligned.

Sears Craftsman Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model and a LiftMaster Chamberlain Professional Garage Door

Hello,

I had the same frustrating dilemma with my Craftsman LiftMaster garage door and Keypad, Model 139.53754-01 (dated 10/06; and has the # 315 MHz).

To resolve “the dilemma”, grab your keypad, climb up on a ladder to access the garage door opener’s motor unit. On the right side of the motor unit, remove the white plastic casing by pressing buttons on each side and pulling down. This will expose the programming area, and for our purposes, the “Learn” button.

1. On the motor unit, press and release the “Learn” button. The Learn indicator light will glow steadily for 30 seconds.

2. Within 30 seconds, enter a four digit personal identification number (PIN) of your choice on the keypad. Then press and hold the ENTER button.

3. Release the ENTER button when the motor unit lights blink. The code has been “learned”/stored/activated.

Good Luck, and I Hope this Helps!
Gail
For possible future reference:

How to change an existing, known PIN
(Changing an existing PIN can be done with the wireless remote keypad, and does not require access of the motor unit.)

From the keypad:

1. Enter the four digits of the present PIN, then press and hold the # button. The opener light will blink twice. Release the # button.

2. Enter your new 4-digit PIN and press Enter. The motor unit lights will blink once when the PIN has been “learned”/stored/activated. Test by entering the new PIN, and pressing Enter.
