Line, faults & possible causes to LCD screen are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent.
Take it back, and get one that does work correctly.

Hold the paper in "portrait" mode, not "landscape" mode.
Are the lines HORIZONTALLY-ACROSS the paper,
or VERTICALLY-DOWN the paper?
If those lines are WHITE and HORIZONTAL,
then some of the many ink-jets inside the print-head are *CLOGGED*.
Run a "print-head-cleaning-cycle" to try to unclog it.
Or, exercise the WARRANTY, and get it replaced.
get your printer service and get new INK jets mean Cartage for your printer thank you it will get no vertical lines then .. it is caused when cartages are leaking..
Remove back .... lightly tap modules with plastic screwdriver
handle to isolate where bad connection is.....pull module or
chassis...solder,then repeat until problem solved......T.
