Sonar 6 Producer - palyback quality issue

I am an absolute newbie. After doing a simple stereo recording to a singl track, I get a clicking sound on playback along with the recorded material. This click is not in the wav file that is saved in the audio folder, just when played back in Sonar.
Any ideas??

I had this problem today whilst installing Sonar on my new laptop. It wasn't the click track. It was the playback glitching, clicking and rattling. I put the buffer size to maximium but it was still happening.

I got round it by downloading the latest version of ASIO4all (2.9 beta4) and installing it. I then opened Sonar 6, options, audio, advanced, then selecting ASIO in the driver mode drop down box. Then I closed Sonar and reopened it.

If you use one device for recording and playback it should work now but if like me you use seperate devices or if it doesn't work click, options, audio, general, ASIO panel, advanced options. Here you can select your inputs and outputs. Play around a bit here. Mine worked when the output of the playback device was selected and both the input and output of the recording device was selected.

ASIO4all sorted out my latency issues as well.

Hope it helped.

Thats just a 'click-track'
(normally usable to play in sync)

i'm no sonar user,
but search for an opion that says 'click-track' or 'click' or'midi-click'
and switch that one off

What you`re hearing is the metronome. If you go to the program settings (I think under Global) you can select whether the metronome plays during and/or playback. Also if you select view - toolbars and choose the large play control bar there are two icons included which allow you to stop or start the metronome. While in the tool bars section you can also select the metronome toolbar .

YES!

You are recording the metronome! You have to shut that off. You can find it in the "projects" area.. (kinda forget now). but if u dont see it- just go to the help files, and look up metronome- and they'll tell you where you can find the controls for it.

What kind of sound editing would I use a multitrack recorder for?

Audacity is an all-in-one multitrack recording program. You can follow below steps to do that.
The interface of it is simple, which is very suitable for beginners to use. Its ability to record multitrack sounds excellently will satisfy you to the most. The following steps show you what you need to do.
1. First, you need to make sure you have set up the USB sound card on your computer properly and you can access stereo mix in the recording properties.
2. After that, you need to prepare the multiple audios that you want to create multitrack recording.
3. Then, you can fire up the Audacity application on your computer and then click on "Edit> Preferences> Devices" tab successively.

4. Select "Stereo Mix" as the device under "Recording" menu and then select the recording quality according to your demands.
5. Finally, you can hit on the "OK" button to begin to record the multitrack audio file. Remember to play the sound tracks on your computer at the same time to allow the software to record them simultaneously.
This USB sound recorder software is quite easy for you to handle. You can also use it to mix multiple tracks directly when necessary.

I downloaded a sonar cakewalk program to my computer but there is no sound. How do i fix this?

First check your speakers with any media player. If this sounds OK then keep the volume level up/same sothat you can hear any sound from speaker. Now Check the input & output devices in sonar (Select the appropriate device). Put any audio file in a track in Sonar & check...

If you are not a regular user of Sonar then it is better to switch to another DAW which are better (at least in my openion) before you are used to Sonar.
I'd suggest "Nuendo" of Steinberg, it is highly professional, far better & far more user friendly than Sonar. I've used both...

Cannot record both mic and electric guitar in daw

Disagree with previous post. The GTrack is designed to record vocals and a mono insrtument at the same time. That's its main selling point. It should also allow monitoring of both the vocals and guitar alongside the playback from the computer. In your computer's Control Panel, go to sound preferences, select the usb microphone and click on advanced tab. It is likely yours is set up to record 1 channel at CD quality - this is how many ship for some reason. Set it to 2 Channels CD quality.
In Sonar, set your track input as USB Left for the vocals, and USB Right for your guitar.

Sonar 4 and midi sound cuts offat start of playback

If you are recording from bar 1 at time 1.00 you might want to start recording one or two bars later. So try starting your song on bar three istead of bar 1

Sounds like what is called a latency problem. You need to go into the settings in Sonar and under audio, adjust the Latency to a higher number...I don't know sonar home studio, or I would tell you the exact area to go in the menu's to adjust latency..Hope this helps!
