Why does my RCA TV cycle through channels on its own?

All of a sudden my tv started going nuts. It cycles through channels and when it finally stops, the volume goes through the roof. I have no control with the remote and the buttons on the tv work but don't get it to stop. Unless I hold the volume down button in, then the channel stops changing until I let go. Any ideas? Mine does the same but the volume doesnt go up.The remote doesnt work either.I am sure this is not the answer to our problem but while the tv is searching the channels be ready and puch the volume button to stop it on your channel you want and then push the menue button and place a lil peice of paper in the meue button and it will stay on

Hi there!
I think your remote may be at fault. Liquid spill or sweat from the hand accumelates on the inside over some time and then becomes sticky. Some of the buttons may be permanently activated. Then other functions won't work. Have someone check it for you or if familiar yourself. Regards, JUS004

How can i change the inputs on the tv?

If you have the remote, there should be an input or source button it? Also, check the buttons on the TV for an input/source button. If there isn't one on the TV buttons, try cycling through the channels, some TV's have the inputs change with the channel buttons too, once cycled down through the channels, it will go through the inputs before starting over.

RCA P52929 changes channel non stop

try unplugging it from the electric wall outlet for an hour then plug back in, this should reset your tv back to factory default, you will have to adjust your setings if you changed them

Why does my RCA TV cycle through channels on its own?

this is the same type of problem happening with other rca models and I know it is the EPROM CHIP but why this is failing is either because of design flaw , dirty enviroment that they were made in , to much voltage or current to the chip or too much of a draw from the chip causing it to fail . Or even a random frequency from the IR sensor or its circut I'm still investigating and testing.
leave the tv unplugged for at least 3 weeks durring this time resolder any solder that don't look good , I did this and it lasted for about 6 months(always plugged in to the wall) before it started doing it again. model # 27v412t

CHANGING CHANNELS ALL THE TIME

I have seen some RCA TV's with this problem and it has usually been a switch going bad on the keypad of the tv. This can be confirmed by disconnecting the plug from the control panel to the main chassis. If you are lucky, and the ir rcvr for the remote is not on the control board, you can still control tv with the remote.Good luck.

GE 31GT740

You may have a sticking button on your front control panel. Sometimes they become intermittent and cause crazy things to happen. I've found this in RCA tv's and GE's are made by the same manufacture. Stargazer
