its the bulb. sometimes over time the bulb gathers dust, the bulb is running at extensive temperatures and debris begin to stain the lens. this is more common with pet owners or smokers. you could check the color wheel but i doubt any color loss is due to that being dirty or stained, reason i state that is because when my crt samsung gets dull its because the lenses on the crts red green and blue are dirty with dust debris.
periodically this has happened in a white sheet wash in my kenmore front loader series 417. we ran the washer empty with washer cleaner and blackish water was ejected from the pump. Another site suggests mildew under the drum . I am wondering if some oil from the unit is leaking in on a high spin cycle where the load is too full.
Amazing, my washer was doing the same thing, i was getting unremovable stains on my dark clothes. to fix this problem you have to changed out the gearcase...leaking oil....
