Mariner is a very popular brand of marine outboard motor. Your best bet would be to go to a boat sales and repair dealership and let them just look it over and tell you what you need to do with out charging you. They will be more then happy to do this. They will know what manual you will need that shows you how to do this yourself for sure. These guys are very sharp as I have had to take my small bass master in for repairs that I was afraid would cost a fortune and was very pleased with the work and price. They should be able to give you information on the age of this craft. Keep me posted on this, and I do believe this would be the best way to go.
Sincerely,

thank you for your reply but all those numbers are no good to me because as i said the wireing loom is there but no key searter or emergancy stop, the workshop manual i have is for a 1976 model but all the wireing coulers do not match any of the wires in my loom pluss there are no numbers any where on the motor for me to try and find out what it is or do i have to pull the motor down to find any numbers that my give me some idea of what the outboard is.peter.
