How do i connect active speakers to a BOSS br 1600 digital recording studio? The speakers are M1 Active 520's. The manual does not seem to cover it, my naivete in many aspects of recording, I'm sure, is the real culprit ! Help

I have this problem with mine. I've did some research and with the boss br 600 this problem can arise quite often .it's caused by a faulty power diode apparently except in that case I've never heard ofrom the screen blinking at all (which my 1600 also does) I wonder I'd this problem can be the same for a br 600 as the br 600

You might go over to VSplanet.com and look in the forums there. They deal a lot with Roland digital recording workstations.

Best to use the line out jacks. The phone jack is stereo and you would have to use a wye cable for that.

I get an unformatted come on the screen on my Boss BR 532 when I swith on, and also when pressing record, although I can get drum machine to work and guitar go through it ok but no recording Hmmmm Erggg

Midi doesn't actually "make sound". If your trying to record the patterns you made on the DR-5 to the recorder you need to use an audio output(I don't remember if they are RCA or 1/4" on the DR-5.) The midi output would be used to"trigger sounds" in another device that has sounds built in, or you could also trigger sounds in a program that supports midi input.
