The video heads are a large silver cylinder inside the machine.
I will warn you against using a cloth or anything to clean then as they have a small gap on them and if any dust gets in there it could make the problem a lot worse.
Your best bet is to search google or some where for a video head cleaning tape, they should be fairly cheap these days.
If that doesn't make much improvement then unfortunatly the head is probably going faulty which would need to be replaced by a audio visual engineer.

Mike

Where can I get the user manual for the Panasonic PV-V4022 4-Head Mono VCR?

Panasonic has the manual on the product page here: https://shop.panasonic.com/support-only/PV-V4022.html . Scroll down to the Owner's Manual. Currently the direct link to the manual is ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/vcr/om/pv-v4022_mul_om.pdf . Note: the manual is shared with the PV-V4522.

I hope this helps.

Vcr hi-fi light blinking

You just have a dirty main video head. You can get a head cleaner tape or you can buy a tin of Servisol Video 40.
To clean with the Servisol, remove the top cover of the VCR. You will see a big shiny video head. Spray that head with the cleaner. You can also wipe it over with a cotton bud if it is very dirty. It's a good idea to clean all the surfaces that the video tape touches. If you don't know which, when you first take off the cover with the VCR on power, put a video tape in a press play then watch where the tape runs. Eject the tape, then clean with the spray and a cotton bud. You can even spray the cotton bud and then clean with that if you are not happy just spraying into the unit.
Make certain that the sprayed areas are dry before trying a video. It dries very quick anyway.

Auto tracking makes no differance.pic.covered by sound bars, black border at top of tape.vcr had stood for 3 months ununsed.on inital play, snapped tape, removed cover to extract tape. new tape kept ejecting...

Sounds like the guideposts need realignment to center the tracking or something got bent in the tape jam removal, check the tape path!. Also could try a take apart cleaning of the head with a piece of paper and some alcohol.

Missing remote for panasonic vcr pv-v4522 and eject switch is broken off.....does the remote for this vcr have an eject button?

Is the eject switch one of those plastic type that pushes against a push to make switch (see image below).
If it is you can melt the plastic with a soldering iron so it engages again.
