Most serger upper blades can be "flipped" out of the way by pushing in and rotating it at the same time. HOWEVER, remember it is not recommended to run the machine with the blade deactivated. The loopers can be damaged/broken when they contact fabric that has not been trimmed.

I would suggest taking the machine back to where you bought it & letting them show you how to make a buttonhole or getting another
machine

check with sewusa.com & email them about the manual & see
if they can find one for you

A quick check of a random Husky owner's manual cross references the letter to a part number in the appendix. Alternatively call Husky and get the info.

Go to www.sewusa.com and they have a diagram on threading a Singer overlocker, 14U-444B/454/B and it is close enough to see how it goes. It helped me out, I have a 14U64B, (older model). It was confusing because the drawing on my machine and the owner instruction book did not match, even though that is the book that came with it when I bought it new. So, I was never getting it threaded right until I looked at this site. I hope that it works for you, too, Good luck.

I have been working on this for the last 2 hours myself....Can't get past step one!

Tried all button hole functions too...even pulled out the book....no luck yet.

2 things must do:
You have to use the buttonhole foot.
You have to pull down the lever to the lowest position (just left of needle bar/ presser bar up in machine.)
Set to buttonhole. After each buttonhole, be sure to change off the buttonhole then reset to buttonhole to reset the buttonhole to the beginning
