Your washer has a bad water valve or fill censor telling machine need more water then to much water sends a flood warning shuts down so will not flood your home look for small clear tube coming from tub to a type control hose may just came off
I understand that your Frigidaire washer, model# ATF6000ES, continues to fill with water until it floods out. I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at the circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. When power has been restored, select any cycle and start it. If your washer is still overfilling and flooding out, I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose your appliance and determine what is causing it to overfill and flood. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your refrigerator status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.
Solved: There was a piece of fabric caught in the water drain pump. Opened the cap at the back bottom right of the washer and pulled it out. Worked fine after that.
I get this question a lot. Washer is flooding the house, water everywhere, won't stop. The first thing I say is unplug the washer. If the water is still coming in,(which it will on a stuck valve) shut off the water faucets. If that is not possible shut the water meter off. If you can stop the washer with the timer then I would say instead of a bad valve you have a plugged water level pressure hose. Look at this diagram:
As you can see the rubber tube from the bottom of the tub allows air pressure to push against the switch till it shuts down the valve and starts the wash cycle. Remedy this problem: Simply remove the tube from the switch and blow it out. Use them lungs!. Get that sand and trash out of the sump. Reconnect the hose tightly and pump out any standing water. Then restart the machine. If you have a good tight connection the machine should start working like normal. No parts needed! LOL!
If it fills with water and starts the cycle and
the water keeps running in then your water inlet valve on the back where the
water supply comes in is sticking. It need replacing.
Your pressure switch stops the
water and allows it to start the next cycle. It's a switch either in the
control panel or at the top of the tub with a small tube connected to it which
goes down between the inner and outer tube. As the water level increases the
air in the tube is compressed until there is enough pressure to make the switch
stopping the water from filling. This tube can get clogged and the switch won't
work. Remove the tube and clean it out. Blowing on the tube when it's still
connected to the switch will make the switch if it's working and clear.
1 of two problems happened. 1) either the water level sensor went bad. Which tells the water inlet valve when to shut off and the machine to start operating. 2) The water inlet valve has failed. This comes from the water hose and fills the washing machine.
If when the machine is flooding if you turn off power to the machine and it continues to fill: replace water inlet valve. If flooding water stops filling when power is interupted: clean out the end of the water level switch tube where it connects to the outer wash tub.

Hi,
I found this answer on Repairclinic.com. Hope it helps...
Water-level switch
A defect--or an obstruction--in the water-level switch may mean that it can't tell the water to shut off. So the machine overflows. This switch senses the water level in the clothes tub. It's usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. You can either clear any obstruction in the tube or replace the water-level switch.
i am a recently retired engineer of 20 years and this sounds like a blockage to start with,
when you remove the lid you will find a round disc like object (pressure switch) with a thin pipe coming from it going down to the bottom end of the machine, this pipe as either come off or is blocked somewhere.
drain the machine totally, clear out the pipes, make sure there are no damaged parts to the pipes, then make sure all are fitted properly, start the machine off again and watch for water level shutting off near the bottom of the door,
start with the above, if this doesn't cover the fault there may be an issue with the timer or electrical fault elsewhere/?
hope this helps, if so rate me please, thank you
