I had the same problem with my HTC Wildfire. I tried numerous times with the password and username I knew was right, but it wouldn't work. You have to press and hold the screen-on/off-button on the upper right corner of the wildfire, like you would do to shut it down. Turn on mobile network. As soon as it has connected, it can conntact google and realize it is indeed the right password and username. Hope this helps
The non-gmail mail app does not support changing the signature on the version of Android OS that is loaded onto the HTC Dream/G1. In the Gmail app do the following:
1. push the menu button to bring up the menu options for the Gmail app. 2. select settings from the menu 3.select signature and enter your desired message 4. press OK to save or cancel to void your entry.
Dear Friend,>If you use Gmail with your Google Account, it's not currently possible to change your Gmail username after you've registered. You can, however, create another Google Account with a different Gmail username. >To change the email address on your account, just follow these steps:
you just need to use a friends sim card that has the g1 data plan and set up your gmail account and then when you put your sim card in the g1 wont ask you for the gmail account again thats what i did
Hi. I'm afraid this is not possible with the current version of Android Operating System. Instead, you can synchronize your HTC G1 contacts with your GMail account, then through your GMail account, you can export your contacts and transfer them to another phone. Hope this helps.
Right now the G1 is having issues logging into the phone after you get locked out using a screen pattern. Just try to remember to write down the username and password you used the first time that way you won't lose the information on your phone by having to reset it. Also make sure you are typing it carefully and make sure to enter your whole gmail address too (Ex. [email protected]). Also if you have had to change your password from a computer after you logged into your G1, it does not take the password change. A way to avoid that is to login to the G1 again. Sync your contacts to gmail first (Settings > Data Synchronization > Menu > Sync Now). Then go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Google Apps > Clear Data. To sign in again go to Settings > Data Synchronization and it will give you the option to create an account or sign in.
The G1 uses your SIM information to connect to GPRS/Edge to register the gmail information. It sounds like you don't have a G1 data plan on your account. The G1 data plans are 24.99 for unlimited data and 400 texts, or 34.99 for unlimited data and texts. I made the mistake of thinking that my regular 19.99 data plan would work, but it would not.
If you have TMO web-billing you can add the feature on by logging into the website and clicking "My Account > Change/Add services" or if you don't have web billing, you can do it over the phone with a billing rep.
It can take up to 24 hours to activate, but it only took me 10 mins.
Also, make sure you are using the correct SIM. I know a lot of people got these phones for xmas and they came with another SIM pre-inserted.
