My vivitar camera is not getting charged.

Are you charging it by connecting to a computer? The MSDC message says that the camera is connected to a computer. What happens if you disconnect it and then turn it on?

You're charging by connecting to a computer's USB port? The MSDC simply indicates that the camera recognizes the connection to the computer. It should go away when you disconnect the camera from the computer.

Yes, you may charge the battery through the USB connection. Bear in mind that not all computer USB ports put out enough current to charge batteries. You may also use an AC-powered USB charger, such as used for some cell phones.

Please charge the battery as below 2 methods: A. Charge with USB cable Insert the lithium battery into your camera correctly, and connect your camera to computer with USB cable. B. Charge with supplied charger Your camera is supplied a compatible charger for you, you are only required to put the battery into charger and charge the lithium battery directly from electrical outlet

Charge lithium battery

A. Charge with USB cable
Insert the lithium battery into your camera correctly, and connect your camera to computer with USB cable. The red LED of camera will be light on indicating that your camera is in charging status, the LED will be off when charge full.

Your camera is supplied a compatible charger for you, you are only required to put the battery into charger and charge the lithium battery directly from electrical outlet

I have the exact same problem...hope we get an answer.

You can try charging your camera in two different ways -
1) Remove the Lithium Ion Battery. Note - This might result in the loss of sample pictures. Now, place the battery back inside and close the Battery door. Connect the camera to your computer and see if MSDC appears on the screen.
2) Try connecting the Charger end to your camera and connect the other end to the Electric Outlet.
Note- The Red LED should be light on charging. It will turn off when the charge is complete.

According to the manual, your Vivicam 8025 is supplied with a charger, but the battery will also charge via the USB cable when the camera is connected to a computer. Need the manual? You can download/print it here:

It's supposed to do that, informing you that it's in mass storage mode. Once connected you control it from the computer, not the camera.

The owners manual says "unit will not charge w/ usb connected to the computer." "charge only with the supplied adapter".
