You need Driver of Acer sound cards to make it work again. If you have CD then you can reinstall driver from it. If you don't have the CD then you can download the driver from manufacturers website.

You can also, use "System restore" to go back to a day/date where the hard ware worked.

Need help to hookup speaker and sound for compaq presario desktop computer. I can not get any sound, and can not hookup my speaker.

Hey,
well first up you need to connect computer speakers to the GREEN sound socket at the BACK of the computer.

power up the speakers!.

power up computer!

go to start menu click on "Control Panel"

Look for an icon called "sound" or "audio devices" double click on icon.

in the Sound Properties window check that there is a sound card driver operating.. if there is no logo displayed here then you haven't installed correct drivers for the soundcard if there is no driver installed then you need to contact a local computer repairer to have a look for you and install the correct drivers for your soundcard!

if there is a logo there then check that the volume in turned up on the computer. do this by RIGHT clicking on the drivers logo and select PROPERTIES.

i hope this helped!,ben

How can i get sound in my pc.. i have lost the sound or volume

Check you have not accidently muted the sound on the desktop icon ( speaker icon)
Check the (green?) line connector is plugged into the correct port on the sound card or chip
Check that the audio driver appears in the sounds tab in the control panel (double click sound icon)

If the driver is missing, re-install it

Also while in there, check the tabs for the volumr mixer etc and see volume is set at max for line out

If those steps fail, check the speakers are getting power and the indicator light is on

Finally, test the soundcard with another speaker, or use headphones if no speakers available

How can I get the sound back on my computer

Check your headset connection. If you get sound there then check your speakers on another computer or try a different set of speakers on your computer. If you don't get sound out of the headset and your speakers work on another computer and another set of speakers don't work on your computer then it's your soundcard drivers.
If you don't have the drivers on disk go to the manufacturers website i.e. www.hp.com, www.dell.com, or whatever you computer manufacturer is. Go to the support page and select downloads. Download and install your driver and you should have your sound back.
If you don't have an integrated soundcard then download the drivers for your card and if that doesn't work replace your soundcard. Let me know how it goes.

No sound on my computer

The abscence of sound is due to a missing or a corrupt driver for sound. Drivers become corrupt due to a virus attack or accidently deleting a driver file. To repair this you have to reinstall the drivers and restart your computer.

The drivers can be found in the below link

Speakers not recognized

Chances are it is not your speaker, but instead your soundcard. What you need to do is locate the driver for your soundcard ( the driver is the software that allows your soundcard and computer to communicate with eachother)......

I am assuming this is a Dell computer , so here is what to do

  1. Goto Dell's Support Page: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen
  2. On your Dell computer locate the service tag. it is a big white sticker on the back of the computer with a bunch of numbers and letters and a barcode. Should look something like "Y23NSS"
  3. On the Dell support page I sent you to , click "Enter tag" and enter your service tag #
  4. You will be taken to a page with all of the drivers for your computer....Click the section that says "Audio" to expand it
  5. You will see a download for your audio device , click "Download Now"
After downloading the file , double clikc on it to launch it. It will run you through the setup and install all the neccesary software for your sound card. It may require you to reboot your system. After the reboot , try your speakers again , you should have sound!

My harmon/kardon speakers do not work

You seem to have uninstalled the driver for your soundcard, Identify the soundcard and find the drivers and install it back (Easier option is to get in touch with your hardware manufacturer) - Alternately : you can do a system restore to a date when it was working well. (on WinXP - Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore)
