My Dell laptop's battery used to work properly and charge and show a green light flashing while charging. Now I can't get the battery to charge and when it is plugged in I am seeing the charge light flash orange quickly 4 times, followed 1 longer green light flash.
The computer appears to work fine while plugged, but won't work when it is not "plugged in".
have inspiron E1505 laptop. When i plug power cord in it says i need to have a dell 65w ac adaptor for proper charging. (that is what I have) computer works fine when plugged in but will not charge. you also sometimes have to wiggle end where it plugs into laptop to get proper connection. Any thoughts?
Thanks

DONT BUY DELL. Same thing just happened to my latitude d610. Can't even turn it on - bettery wont charge. Its less than 3yrs old. My 8+ year old HP still works.
You have a ground fault issue in the DC JACK.
There are escentially 4 circuits in the jack and one is not making contact.
1: Negative Charge circuit (outter ring)
2: Negative Run circuit (outter ring)
3 Positive (Inner Ring)
4: Signal (center pin)
I believe the negative charge circuit (outter ring) is not making contact internally. Typically what happens on that model DC Jack is the tension contact metal becomes fatigued, and does not touch the outter ring.
This could come from Heat causing early fatigue of the metal.
Or normal wear, the metal has simply worn out from regular insert/removal.

Don't forget to rate suggestions
My suggestion is that you allow the batteries to fully recharge(which only happens when the computer is fully off, when the battery is deep discharged.
that will take around 6 to 10 hours each..
then either the battery is history or the motherboard lost part of it's functionality. Only way to tell, with least investment, is to check battery with someone elses charger configuration.

hi, my dell E1505 will not charge the battery and the laptop will not identify the battery and will say used a 65w power adaptor or higher. i have tried new batteries, new adaptor, the laptop works only with the adaptor plug in or with a fully charged battery from another laptop.i think is a board fault. do any have a solution to this problem? thanks
I had an hdmi cord plugged into my laptop connecting to my hd tv and when i removed the cord from my laptop sound no longer plays. There's an x on the sound icon on my laptop. But if i plug the hdmi cord back into the laptop and play music the sound works fine
