Touch screen does not respond correctly, very erratic. Also, sometimes get message that the main program has stopped working but no solution is returned from the internet

If it's greyed out, there is no data to reset, and it's not that causing the issue. ... wentall wonky, swipe for charms wont work, can select anything ... I tried the hard reset and low and behold my touchscreen started working again.

Sounds like static to me. was the laptop off when you cleaned the screen? Remove battery for a little bit use a paper towel or tissue to wipe screen down. Replace battery turn back on and calibrate screen. I hate using screen wipes. I just use small amount of water on "imitation chamois" cloth. They don't seem to create static. Hope this helps.

Touch Display from the Settings menu.

Click Touch Screen from the Display menu and press Recalibrate.

Follow the prompts to realign your touch screen so it responds correctly to your touch.

Make sure that the program controller is working if not check power - step down supply, the pads are responding- if not faulty pads- or the door switches, if the switch contact are not good then it will not trigger the processor to switch on the waveguides.Since the table turns without a program start and If the lights or fan work without any display or action of program being triggered to start then it can be a possible fault on the main board or the processor. Sometimes insect secretion can short the board and display panel and so the processor can work in such an erratic manner. If so clean,solder and reset the board.

It seems to be the problem in the touch itself, it must be changed with a new one.

Clean the touch screen on the phone with an electronics cleaning cloth or wipe. Dirt, dust and oils from your fingertips can collect on the screen, making it unresponsive or desensitized to your finger's touch. Clean the screen in a circular motion.

Eliminate any bubbles under the screen protector. You can do this by removing the screen protector and then reapplying it, going from the top of the screen to the bottom or vice versa.

Remove the screen protector and do not place the protector back on the touch screen. Screen protectors are made for protecting a touch screen, but sometimes the protectors make the touch screen less responsive to your finger touch or even altogether unresponsive.

Power off the touch screen phone if the touch screen stops working when a new program is opened. This isn't a problem with the touch screen, but a problem with the software trying to load or open on the phone. Some programs can slow response time with the touch screen or may not respond to it at all.

You must attempt to refresh your iPod Touch.

Hold the Sleep Button and the Home Button at the same time for 10 seconds. The screen turns off, wait for 5 seconds. Then hold the power button again until you see the Apple Logo. Wait for couple of seconds. Then your problem should resolved!

We had the same problem with the touch screen erratically not working. Then the blower stopped working. Initially, we thought it was the blower motor.
