You can use partition softwares to partition the drive.
eg: Minitool Partition Wizard Home Edition(its free)

Or,if you have the original Win 8 cd and product key,you can re-install Win 8 and during the process partition the hard disk. But doing this may result in losing all your data.

reformatting your laptop will solve your problem, if you have your windows xp cd then you can easily fix it..

I recommend you to use AOMEI Partition Assistant Server Edition. It is a magic tool to manage your disk better. With its help, it is a piece of cake to create partitions as many as you can, no matter primary or logical. It is really worthy using, because I used it before.

you probably have a secure partition. it will contain your recovery disks if you have not changed your partitions or changed disks. you may either have to create the disks from this partition or run a recovery program from this partition (drive)(folder).

You will need a seperate program to do that. Do a search for a free partition manager program. Be careful and backup important files before attempting.

I would first try removing the power adapter and the battery...wait about a minute, put them back, see if there is a change. If not, then I would be contacting Lenovo next.

to create partitions they have to be done on a unused hard drive if u change the partition on a installed one you will lose all the information.
if its a second hard drive you have just fitted click start button and right click on my computer and click manage, will allow you to make new partitions.

Since you have used the recovery disc to restore the system, it will automatically create partitions on the system, in your case, just one major partition which is Drive C (C:). If you want to add partitions on your system, you can use partition editor software such as Norton Partition Magic 8.0 and Acronis Partition Manager. These software gets a portion of the main Partition (Unused / Free space) and creates a new one. You can create multiple partitions depending on the size of the Hard Drive on the system. These Software are not Free, if you want to use a free software for editing the parition, you can use Gparted (Found in : http://gparted.sourceforge.net/ ). Though Gparted is free, it is harder to use compared to the first 2 software mentioned. If you want to use a user friendly sofware, I suggest that you use Acronis Partition Manager or Norton Partition Magic 8.0.
