Unfortunately laser printers don't work this way. The laserjet 1022 was designed for black and white prints only. In order to do color printing with a laser printer you will need to purchase one that is designed to print in color. The laser printers work a bit differently than the inkjets - the laser printers have 4 toner cartridges, one each for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black, that work together to print a full color page. With the old inkjets you could just replace a black cartridge with a color one.
So, short answer: Sorry but no you can't make a laserjet 1022 print in color. :)
Run the PQ troubleshooting diagnostic. See if the black is printing. If not, run the Disable Cartridge check. This will allow you print with only one cartridge in the printer. Take out all the cartridges. Put the black in another slot and put the cyan in the black slot(the top). Print the config page. If the black is printing, is the cyan printing. If black isn't printing the cartridge is bad. If black is printing and cyan isn't something is wrong with the printer. If they are both printing put them back in the correct locations along with the other two colors. It isn't the printer.
restore the properties.... set as "print in grey scale" or "print color as b/w images"... also if the print become less or more dark you can change the settings to print whit more intensity or less... there is no necesary change all your documents as "watter ink" only change the print options to fade to black
The 3550 won't print in any color if any of the colors are out. You'll have to replace the color ink that's empty to get it to print.
In the future, if you're just printing black and white, you can select "Print in Grayscale" from the print properties to just use the black ink cartridge, which will help the color cartridges to last longer.
If you chose: Print in GreyScale, the printer will be forced into Monochrome mode. This is available in the Printer Properties. However, I do not know if this will work on this printer. I have seen it work with other manufacturer's printers (mostly inkjets).
To Save the color ink you can change the printer settings to Black Only.
To Setup:
Press START Button.
Select RUN Command.
Type these commands in CAPS.
CONTROL PRINTERS and press OK or Enter.
Now you will get Printers & Faxes Window.
There you select the ink jet printer which you want to change the color settings.
Right Click on it and Select Printer Properties later.
Select Printing Preferences
There you can see lot of window tabs (just like a worksheets). Depends on printer in any of the TAB you can see the option Black Only / GrayScale Printing Only.
