My Hoshizaki KM-500MAE is not producing much ice. I removed the panel and saw a lot of ice built up inside the area where ice usually falls down. There are huge chunks of ice and I have left the machine in the WASH mode to defrost the ice.
What is causing the ice to build up inside the machine and prevent the ice cubes from falling into the bin? There are ice blocks all over on the sides and on top of the metal grills.
If this unit is iced up this bad, when it goes into the harvest mode, if it has hot gas defrost or electric grid, its not working, The ice will continue to build up all around the coil, flaps, everywhere there is a place for ice to build up. When you defrost it, it will continue to do this. With out service gauges to check this unit when it goes into harvest mode you are not going to find the problem. I hate telling you this, but some things you cant check without special equipment and I know you are trying to save $$$ as we all are. You will need to call a tech out to install his gauges to do the internal checks on the unit and use his electrical meter to check other componants. Please let me know and keep me posted.
Sincerely,
