If you could get it to reset by unplugging it I would suspect a problem with the main timer board. A blown fuse or bad connection wont reset by unplugging it. You would need to find a parts dealer who carris Magic Chef parts and give them your model number and ask for price and availability on the main PCB the printed circuit board

If the microwave is above the stove, the heat sensors in the microwave may turn on fans to cool it even though the microwave itself is not running. It tries to save its life. It should turn off when the stove is not heating it.
Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
Microwave ovens are notorious for this problem, and this is the problem
the touch pads on these are really sensitive to moisture an things
like grease which leads to buttons sticking inside of the pad so what
you will need to do is first unplug the microwave and then you will
have to remove the outer case by removing the screws on the back edge
and on the sides of the microwave
Now you will be able to see where the touch pad is attached next
remove the wires from the pad and remove the pad once you have it out
you will be able to visually tell if it is greasy or feels greasy if
so you can try to clean off the grease with a solution of degreaser
soak it really well and leave sit for 15 min then take fairly hot
water and rinse thoroughly and leave sit for a few hours to dry then
reassemble and see if the microwave will now work if this still does
not work then you will need to replace the touchpad this is about a 30
dollar part you can order it thru your local appliance parts store or
go to www.repair clinic.com and order it thru there
I would rather replace the pad instead of getting rid of a good microwave ok?
Hope this is very helpful for you
Best regards MIke
HI. This is , indeed, an issue within the touch pad circuitry. it is damage, and will require replacement. I have located a replacement touch pad. Use the link below to access the touch pad. You can order the pad on-line, by clicking the link below.
I don't have Magic chef, however, I would try hitting cancel, unplugging the microwave and waiting a few minutes, then plugging it back in to reset it. Alternatively, you could go to your manual under troubleshoooting. I wish that I could help you more with this. Good luck to you. Please let me know if you figure this one out.
