Kenmore 790.49073400 oven door won't close completely

Kenmore 790.49073400 oven door won't close all the way. the door opens and closes just fine except that it won't close the last 2 inches. The door doesn't seem to be bent or out of alignment. When you push it closed, the spacing between door and frame is even all the way around, but it springs back open when you release the door. it just happened, and i am hesitant to tear it apart without knowing where to look. It seems to be a hinge problem, but like something came disconnected, as opposed to breaking or bending.

I actually found that the hinges were fine. turns out that the removable bottom of the oven was not fully pushed back into the oven, and it was slightly interfering with letting the door close completely. I pushed it back in, and all is well.

Hello- You are on the right track. The hinge assemblies are 'sprung' or bent out of shape. Replacing them is pretty easy, so you can do it yourself. Four screws on each side. Be careful, these springs can snap closed and bite ya. Use the little pins that come with the new set to lock hinge so this doesn't happen. Let me know if this info helps- have more if needed- Thanks- Ed

Gotcha-  2 inches is more than any bad hinge I've seen.  Missed the clue- Thanks for the reply- Ed

Oven door won't close completely

You will probably have to replace the springs I doubt if they can ve fixed. you can open the door all the way and you will see a hole in the spring just inside the door. you can stick a nail in that hole, both springs that will hold the door open and you can lift the door out and check the springs I will tell you to have patience its not easy.

My Wolrd Pool Double Oven Door will not close all

same problem, I tried to adjust the level and tip the oven back, but that didn't work either.
Two options exist, change the hinges, or close the door with a hammer handle between the door and oven. Place the handle down low by hinge, then push the door closed very firmly to pull the hinge outward a bit.

How to remove door for whirlpool oven RBS305PDB2

open the door about 1/3 of the way and lift it off the hinge pins. it helps to have two people do this. when it is time to replace it, put the hinges in that 1/3 open position and slide the door back down on.

I accidentally activated the oven lock while door open, and now I cannpt un;ock mechanism

If you've interrupted the clean cycle by opening the door and the latch engaged and now the door can't be closed, there may be a door activated* switch on the front face of the oven. In this case you may need to manually press that door switch while at the same time canceling the clean cycle to get the latch to retract so the door can close fully again.

Kenmore oven door stuck closed

if you open the lid on your stove, you will probably be able to reset the switch manually (the latch).with the lid up its located toward the front behind the safety latch.(by no means attempt to force, bypass,or disable this switch)this is a safety feature designed to protect you from the high temps generated by the cleaning cycle.hope this helps.thanx for using fix-ya

Oven light

Heat causes metal to expand. Expanding metal can make contact with other objects, like a ground that completes a circuit. Take the lamp assembly apart and check for exposed conductors. Also, check the door switch. If it is heating up and something within the switch is expanding then the switch may be closing due to heat. With the door open puch the switch all the way in and see if the light goes off. If it does then replace the switch.
