My 6 yr old Maytag SAV5710AWW recently started leaking water from the bottom when it began the agitation cycle. When I opened up the front, I saw a single small stream of water coming from the top of what looks like the brake assembly (I'm not sure if that's the right part name, but it spins the tub?) It's just this single stream and not coming from anywhere else from the top of the brake assembly. Any idea where this tiny stream of water is coming from? The transmission? The tub seal (or would that create multiple streams?) And how much would a typcal service call be to fix this?

Sounds like you nailed it, the Tub Seal.
It can be a stream or an ocean, either way maytags do leak from that seal pretty often. Removal of the tub is your only option. The price is up to the tech, but this type of repair is considered to be a major fix, and is usually done in a shop.

I have a Maytag Centennial washer, model number MVWC6ESWW, when I start the machine, it immediately starts agitating and adding water simeltaneously. At the end of the cycle, the clothes are soaking wet,...

I had the same issue. When I started the machine it began agitating and then began to fill as if it is beginning the second rinse cycle - well I think it was.... SO, I threw in some towels and began the cycle at the second rinse part of the cycle. Low and behold, the next load started and finished just fine.

I hope this helps. This is just one of many issues with this machine, but luckily I haven't had to call the repairman yet! They all seem to revolve around the thing being out of sync.

Leaking water on spincycle

I have the same problem with my washer. The problem just began a few weeks ago. It is splashing out the front left corner of the tub and running down the inside of washer and then leaking out the bottom of the frame. It is just enough water to be annoying. The washer is about 6 years old.
Model: FAV6800AWW
Serial: 11277017EG

Any ideas??? Help!

if its a neptune front load washer you need new tub lip seal and bearings for the drum as the seal is leaking water into the bearings that hold the inner drum,it will only get worse, you need to remove the inner drumto replace the seals and bearing it takes from 2 to 6 hours depending how hard the old bearings come out of the race

Maytag washer will not agitate

A Maytag A412 is well over 20 years old....
Best guess is a corroded upper drive shaft, the one that the agitator is mounted on. Certainly it can be called a transmission problem.

It is your water pump. If you don't know what you are doing it could be tough.

Leak from maytag top load coin machine during spin drain cycle only

Possible that you would have a tub seal leak if it is only noticable during spin cycle. Possible that it "drips" slightly while in agitation, but not enough to notice it. While in spin mode you have a lot more parts moving as well as a lot more water pressure on the seal itself. Pump could also be leaking, but highly doubtful since it would leak a constant amount at all times. Good Luck!!! Jim
