We have an older home, there are to light switch plates with 4 on/off swithches on each. The switch plates we would like to put in are just 3 on/off switches, as some of the old ones shared light sources and we don't need this. We just want to hook up the wiring and be able to turn a light off and on. The wires are white, red and green, the white wire is the hot wire. can you help?

I can help, but I need a lot more specific info. Please use these naming conventions to describe what you have:
G1, G2 -- the two gangs of 4 switches each G1S1 - the first switch in gang 1 L1 - light, appliance or outlet number 1
Describe how each light is controlled as follows: L1 - G1S1 & G2S1 (one light controlled by a pair of 3-way switches) L2,L3 - G1S2 (assumes a normal switch controlling two lights) etc. for all of the L's presently controlled by all 8 switches
Then describe what you want the 6 new switches to operate.

Park neutral position switch

Yes I would agree the trans selector switch has failed, provided the wiring is good.
The license plate lights would be on a different circuit tied into the regular tail lights.

Remove head lamp switch jeep cherokee 1996

1st thing you have to take off is the plastic "bezel" as if you were installing a radio. there are 4 screws that hold the bezel orplastic frame on before you pull this off there is a collar around the steering wheel which should be removed. the collar has two torx head screws that go up from the bottom up into the collar, separate the two halves then you can pull the bezel off. with the bezel off you'll see eight screws( 4 black 4 gold) remove 4 black screws from instrument cluster(speedometer- gas gage- tach) with inst cluster free you have to disconnect the speedo connector and multi pin connector on left side of cluster. put the cluster down gently( the plastic is thin and cracks easily)on the left of where the inst cluster was you should have a bunch of "idiot lights" for 4 wheel part time battery etc..that has 3 screws. when the 3 screws are removed this " plate" is on a hinge remove the plate and light bulbs behind the plate. next to where your light sw is should be your rear defroster switch with a light bulb and a switch, one screw holds this cover screw is on the left and it is a plastic box that's hinged on the right.remove this now you have some room. pull the light switch hard to get the knob and shaft out of the switch it is not included with the new one you re-use it. now with that out you'll see a brass circle with a slot- unscrew this while holding switch from back. pull the switch from the hole from where the defroster and idiot lights where. switch is on a multi pin connector pull connector off and put it on the new switch put the switch back in BEFORE you put the knob and shaft back on the switch ( that just snaps in when you push it on) if you're like me and have to "play" with it first you push the shaft into the switch make sure it lines up then to release it so you can get it in the dashboard , there are two rivets on the bottom of the switch, the one closest to you has a spring in it , push it in and pull knob while twisting and it will come out again..

Check to see what power supply your using to connect it with. If using a rf swithch make sure its on channel 3 or 4 then. If you are using the av cables switch them to a different out lit then.

I live in a home where we had a switch go bad in our boys room. When we replaced the switch my daugters switch would not work. We have three wires coming out of both wall outlets plus a ground. I got a...

If the problem arose after you replaced the switch in your boys room, that is where I would go to first in my attempt to troubleshoot the problem. After you pull the switch out, I would leave the switch in the off position, and check that 2 of the three wires in that box are receiving power.
If there is only a single with power then that is the power coming into the switch box, and it is very likely that one of the other wires is intended to feed beyond. A good way to check this would be to turn the switch on and see if your daughter's switch is getting power when that switch is on. If this is the case, the next part becomes a little tricky.
1. turn the switch in your boys room off
2. disconnect only one wire from the 2 that do not have constant power.
3. turn on switch, if light for the room turns on, then attached wire is switch leg for the light, and disconnected wire is power out of rest of the circuit.
CAUTION: turn off power at breaker before continuing
4. once you know which is the switch leg, and which is the out for the rest of the circuit, junction the in wire with the out wire, and attach a single wire to this junction twisting all three together, put a wirenut on the junction, and re-attach to switch.
once this is done, you should be able to turn the breaker back on.

If the above instructions are not needed, it is possible that the switch is fed from a plug in the room, and that a connection on the plug could have gone bad. In this case, you should once again, turn the breaker for the room off first.
1. pull out the plug
2. ensure that all wires are wrapped around the screws, not pushed into the holes in the back of the device. Black to brass, White to silver, Ground to green
3. put the outlet back and turn the breaker back on
4. test the switch

I hope that this proves helpfull and resolves your problem. please let me know if you have any questions
