Oven is not heating to correct tempurature

The bottom element in the oven is not working at all and when the broiler element kicks in, it is not heating to the correct tempurature. My boyfriend believes that the problem is just the bottom element and I am afraid that, if the superintendent just replaces that that the oven will not get properly checked. My boyfriend does not believe me when I tell him that the broiler element can be set to a specific temperature and does not only work at full blast. Can someone please explain this in so many words; so that, he can understand that? I suspect that the problem may be the thermostat.

I would have to confirm when I get home, but I don't believe that it is a Frigidaire--I didn't find a general forum for ovens. The bottom element was taken out completely and when the broiler was turned on and the temperature lowered, it was not heating at the expected temperature. My boyfriend says that the two elements normally are turned on at the same time when it is set to bake and I have to disagree with that because from experience, if I have set the oven on bake (there are no bake or broil diagrams on the ****) and I turn the temperature down without first turning it off, the broil element kicks in and the bake element is off. (Cakes char on top when that happens, but it still completes baking in the the same time frame)

Are you saying, then, that the broil element switches to bake mode after it is set to broil and the temperature lowered? I know that there are recipes that call for broiling at a lower temperature. Does that mean that I can't get it to broil at the lower temperature requested?

Its not the thermostat most of the time you can look at the element and see if its bad un less a wire is burned off behind or has come off behind the wall of the oven where the element is you can turn off the breaker to the oven off remove the two screws pull the element foward remove one of the wires to the element and check it with an ohm meter to make sure its bad and some ovens have a vari broil feature but most times they just run full bozo consult your owners manuel to see about yours if you dont have a manuel can get one here http://www.frigidaire.com/support/manuals.asp

Broiler element doesn't work

Reseating the Element The broiler is heated using an electric element which should be clipped in to the top of the broiler enclosure. If this has come loose then it might not be making contact with the necessary terminals. Try to reseat the terminal but before doing so you must ensure that the electricity is turned off.
Testing the Element The element is what heats up and cooks the food in the broiler. Over time the heat can damage the broiler element. These elements are supported by stand-offs and if the element burns out or becomes damaged then this can be a common reason why the broiler isn't working.
The easiest way to test whether this is working is to turn the broiler on and look at the element. If it is working correctly then the element should be glowing red.
Another slightly more complicated test for the broiler element is to remove the element from the oven and disconnect it. Then use a multimeter to check the continuity of the element. Set the multi-meter to measure resistance and then put it either side of the element. The normal measurement should be between 20 and 40 ohms. If the element is infinitely resistant then this means it's broken and will need to be replaced.
Testing Oven Controls Another reason why the broiler will fail to work is because of problems with the oven controls. A thermostat is used to set the temperature of the broiler, and the oven selector controls are used to control the setting of the broiler.
Turn the oven controls on to see whether the broiler is working properly. If not the controls can be removed and tested using a multimeter. Check the outputs to ensure that the controls are working correctly.
These can also be replaced if required by fitting a replacement part designed specifically for your oven.

Dacro Wall oven (electric) does not heat past 345 degrees on bake or convection bake but broiler works and bottom oven works fine (for bake, convection bake and broil).

it could be the oven temp sensor rod located near the top of the inside of the oven,or possibly the bake element has a hot spot on the element and can no longer pass enough current thru this spot to correctly heat to your settings a hot spot on the element will look discolored in this area

Hi there, We have a Fidigaire Gallery electric stove and the oven does not heat up. We press thej"Bake" button followed by the up arrow to set the tempurature but the oven will not heat up. The...

well... have a volt meter?
Are the bake and broil coils the same?
If so, you can swap them to see if the broiler element glows in the bake position... if so then the element is NFG... to proove that put the bake element in the broil position and fire up the briol function... it should not heat up...
Usually the MFG. intentionally makes the elements with a different offset, so you cannot mix them up...

that's what the meter is for... unplug the element, and put the probes in the socket.
You will be reading 220 Volts, so be XTRA careful... if no 220 then the Module that controls the relay to activate the element connector is not working correctly... so you have to sorts test both ways...
Just be careful...

Kenmore electrical oven

Trying to better define the problem....

Do you have any cuts, holes or "shorting" or tin-foil/aluminum around your bottom bake heat-element? If so, you may need to replace the baking Heat Element. (Ensure you do not use aluminum foil around your heat element to prevent your oven from getting dirty)

To replace your baking heat element, with power off; remove 2 screws securing the bake element. Slightly tug and pull towards you for about 3 inches or so and disconnect the connecting wires at each end. Then completely remove the heat element and install new in reverse manner. Whats' you're model number?

Oven not working

There is a separate element for the oven (bottom one) and the broiler (top one) It sounds like the bottom heating element is burnt out assuming this is an electric oven.
