Canon MP600 printer

Message keeps coming up, inner lid is open, close and hit OK. This does not work and the carriage with the ink will no longer come to center to change ink cartridge. I have turned it off and waited like 5 minutes but it hasn't resolved the problem. This has been the best printer I have ever had to this point. Do you have a suggestion? Thanks Message keeps coming up inner cover is open. Closing it and hitting OK doesn't work. Turning printer off for a day to "reset" doesn't work.

Have the same problem. It's frustrating and I can't get it to stop. It also says that paper is stuck but complete visual inspection shows no paper.

Same here... I saw ink spread out at the lower right corner of the "inner lid", cleaned it up, thinking that it could have contaminated an optical sensor or something, but nope. I haven't figured out what is wrong here yet.

Sounds like the inner cover is not seating properly. so, perhaps there is something amiss inside, making that cover not latch cleanly? do a visual inspection(got one of those dental type mirrors?).

It may well be cheaper to replace the printer than pay for the repair.

Getting "inner cover is open" message

The inner cover is a flap on the inside in front of the carriage when it is at rest when the cover us open. You had to flip the inner cover down to access the ink cartridges.
Open the cover. The inner cover is in the center and need to be flipped up.
Good luck.

My MP160 printer is out of ink and idon't know where the cartridg

Turn the printer on and open the lid. After a short while, the printer carriage unit containing the print head and ink cartridges will stop right in the middle of the printer, so you can easily replace the ink cartridges. After replacing them and ensuring they're fully seated, simply close the lid. The printer will run a few quick self-diagnostic checks and run a purge cycle, and it'll be good to go.

Error message inner cover is open canon pixma mp610 printer

Had the same problem myself but discovered that I had previously moved the inside flap down when I put the ink in. I moved this back into position and bingo! (If you make sure all the covers are closed then look into the printer where the paper exits you will see the flap that moves up and down, this must be in the up position)

My mp600 keeps saying close inner cover-which is closed

I had the same issue, turning off didn't solve it.
There's a plastic flap the width of the print tray just inside that I flipped up and it solved this problem. It is directly in front of the ink tanks. I'm assuming we flipped it down and forgot about it. It seems it needs to stay up, although you wouldn't notice it when it flips down when you close the top, as it closes just fine with it down. It's easy to overlook. This took me a few hours to realize.

The top of the flap has a half circle cut out of it in the middle.

I have a Canon MP600 printer and just changed 4 of the ink tanks. Even though the inner cover is closed I keep getting the error messaage "Inner cover is open. Close the inner cover and press...

  1. Have you tried turning the printer on/off?
  2. Did you replace the cartridges with the power on or off? Most printers require you to replace them with the power on.
  3. Try replacing the new one with the old ones. Do you get the same display?
  4. On the printer, is there an alignment button?

Good luck!

Printer problem

Pretend you need to replace the ink again. Open the MP600 so the carriage moves to the center (just like your going to replace the ink). Than power off the printer. Remove the cartridges & look very closely at the copper contacts. (Sometime when you remove the protective tape some of the sticky tape leaves a residue. If you can not see anything than get some house hold alcohol & a couple cotton swabs. Dampen the cotton & wipe the copper contacts on the ink cartridge (Not the bottom) & the copper contacts inside the carriage. Let everything dry. Alcohol does not leave a residue. Return the ink cartridges (good tight fit). Close the lid & power on the printer. Print a test page.
Left click once on the start button, slide up to & click on Printers and Faxes. The Printer and Faxes window will open. Right click once on your MP600 & left click on properties. Click Print a test page. If the colors did not come out correctly than run an alignment through your printer software & try again.
Everything I mention above is based on the idea that your printer was running just fine but you ran out of ink.
Please correct me if this is not the case.

Good Luck!
If I can be of more service, just ask.
