I just purchased a Sony CD/DVD player, model #DVP-SR200P. I assume that I've hooked everything up correctly. I get sound and picture. But, the picture is in black & white. What am I doing wrong? Is there something I can do to fix it?

Try to go under the settings in the dvd player. Be sure all the setting are set up according to your TV.

Sometimes if you dont have it set to N. American standards it can output like that. Be sure its set to "NTSC" if you live in N. America or Japan. If you live in Europe be sure its set to "PAL".

Let me know If this is not a issue in comments and I will help you further but I think this is it.

SOURCE: SONY DVD PLAYER DVP-SR200P BUT IT ONLY SHOW IN BLACK AND WHITE ?

You have posted this in the Panasonic DMR-ES30VS section.
Please note which product section you are in before posting your question.

For the Sony DVP-SR200P there could be multiple reasons for it only showing in B&W.
Was this a recent problem, is this a new hook-up, has it always been this way?

  1. In the setup menu there is a setting for Custom Picture Mode.
Could someone have turned the color down?
You can go to the setup menu and "Reset" the player to the factory settings.
  2. How is this connected to your TV?
Check all cables to make sure they are plugged in, test each one by unplugging it, and then plug it back in fully.

If you are using a composite cable (1 cable yellow plug), be sure you have plugged it in from yellow to yellow.

If you are using the component (3 cables red-green-blue plugs) hook-up, be sure you are using cables only designed for component hook-up, and have plugged them in correctly, red to red, green to green, blue to blue (Be sure you've plugged the red cable into the red video not red audio).

Are the cables in good condition?
No breaks, loose connectors, they weren't smashed under a piece of furniture?
Have you tried a different set of cables?
  3. Test the DVD player on another TV.
    Does the same thing happen?
Did you "Reset" the DVD player?
Maybe the DVD player is bad?
  4. Find another DVD player and test it with your TV.
Does it work OK, or is it black and white too?
Maybe the connectors on the TV are bad?
Is there a custom setting on the TV for that connection?
On some TVs you can adjust the settings for each input (INPUT 1, INPUT 2, ....) maybe the color setting is turned down?
There are may possibilities, but these are some of the basic things to check.
Best wishes,
-Greg-

How do i program my sony dvd player dvp.sr200p to work on my philips tv

No special programming is required. Connect the DVD player to the TV using an HDMI cable. Note which input jack you used on the TV (example: HDMI 1 or HDMI 2, etc.) Turn on the DVD player and insert a DVD disc and play it. Turn on the TV and select the input you used to connect the DVD player (example: HDMI 1 or HDMI 2, etc.). You should now see and hear the DVD disc playing. Most settings are pre-set at the factory so everything will work without adjustment. However, both the DVD player and the TV have a Menu where you can adjust settings for picture, sound, etc. if desired.

Sound

Are all the 3 cable plugs inserted properly (yellow, white, red) or is it a scart lead? You may need to buy a new scart lead ( or 3 wired scart cables) as there could be a problem with the links or just the wires themselves

I just hooked up my Sony DVD Player DVP-SP200P and when I put a DVD in, there is a loud humming sound heard. What could cause this?

It could be here the motor inside that loads/unloads the disc. If unit is opened try to localize where the sound is coming from--is it from the motor or the mechanism?

Replacement DVD players are real cheap now so maybe.........

Hooked up dvd sr200p to bravia..no color...

If you are connected useing the component video cords (red, blue, green, red, white) it sounds as if you have the red, blue or green cords connected to the wrong color of jacks on the back of the TV or the DVD player, recheck your connections.
If all is good there, maybe one of those cords are bad?
The Sony DVP-SR200P DVD player is on the bottom end of their model line up, and you may have received a bad one right out of the box!
GOOD LUCK !!

My sony DVP-SR200P player has a disk in it and it won't open and keeps saying this operation not allowed or something like that. I have tried everything to get this dvd out

Try this. With the power off, press and hold the open button on the units face until it opens. This works with many Sony players and Sony recorders when there is an error. Hope this helps.
