Well if the unit has fuel than it should prime unless the primer bulb is damaged and unable to force air/gas through the line. This is definetly a fuel issue, I would remove both the line from the tank to the carb and carb to engine and clean them thoroughly.

When you press the bulb the carb should shoot gas from the unit when disconnected. If this isn't happening your clog is here. If it does eject gasoline than your clog is the clear line which sometimes collects sediment if the gas is poluted.

Hello I checked the spark plug and cleaned the carb on my 5hp engine on my roto tiller. It still wouldn't run. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Marin:
Did you check the plug for a hot blue spark?
Did you drain the carb to make sure there are no contaminates?
Fresh fuel?
Clean air filter?
Correct oil level?
Try a squirt of gas into the carb to prime it.

I've got a little southland tiller and the thing

Remove the air cleaner and spray carb cleaner into the throat of the carb then try to start. If it starts right up for a second then its a fuel problem and the carb will need to be rebuilt, also check the fuel lines and filter. If it wont run for a second on the prime then you have an ignition or compression problem.

Troy built mower honda 160 engine oil leak around governer shaft. no oil seal but shows one on parts breakdown. Can not find part number for shown seal.

Drain oil from mower until proper level. Remove spark plug and pull starter rope several times to blow out cylinder. Spray starter fluid in cylinder pull rope several times to clean out. Replace fouled plug with new spark plug. Remove air cleaner, ensure no oil present, replace filter as needed. Clean air filter box with carb cleaner. Install new air filter reattach filter cover. Prime engine, pull starter rope 1/2 way 4 times to help prime, then pull starter rope fully up to 10 times to start.

Will it run if you keep priming it??? More than likly the carb is durty. Take the air filer off and have carb. cleaner handy. Start it up and spray carb. cleaner intermitenly in the carb till it runs properly. Ifthat does not correct the problem the carb. needs to be cleaned . Not to be done other than some one who knows how !!!

I have the same FG 100 tiller with the same problem. I did replace the carb with a brand new one and still can not get full RPM. It does try to go to full RPM, but drops back. I even checked the transmission and clutches very thing works very well.

Mantis tiller starts but will not stay running

Carburetor problem. Two stroke engines use oil mixed with gas. Old fuel or setting over the winter will cause varnish and sludge in the Carburetor. Start by buying a can of carburetor cleaner and mixing a new can of fuel.
1) Dump the old fuel and check replace it with new.
2) Remove the air cleaner.
3) Pump the prime bulb 3 or 4 times, set the choke, spray the insides of the carb with the cleaner and then try and start it . It should sputter and run for a few second but chances are it will take a few sprays to clean the jets

Oil gushes out of air filter hole.

Oil normally comes out of the air filter area a little bit, but over time, once the oil rings start to wear, more and more oil comes out. So you can either have new oil rings replaced, or you can put in a crank ventillation valve in there and it often helps slow down the oil from entering

Cannot keep tiller running

Could a gas/oil mix been used by mistake. When you cleaned carb did you also clean dusty air filter?? Try leaveing off filter first and run. Are you sure you are in "choke position" when engines seems to be running ok,be sure to double check yourself here. If engine runs ecelleant in "choke" sounds like your in "Run" position and positioning is problem not performance.

Please rate. Thanks jj505

6 yr old mower starts, won't run

sounds like a plugged high speed jet in carb - you can attempt to prime again , push at least 7-8 times - once it fires continue to push primer to keep running - it may clear out the carb if this doesnt work the carb will need to be removed and cleaned
