Zanussi jet stream iz16s tripping ouy rcd once filled up with
Machine has been great for over 6 years now, went to put on a wash and half way through cycle washine on hot wash the machine trip the rcds in house, turned washing machine off, restarted hose power, then turned washing machine back with water still in drum, about 5 seconds later trip the power again.
Tried another circuit on house mains, and the same still happend. switched off and drained water out, took washing out. switch on again worked well door clicked and started to fill up with water, when filled the machine went quite and for about 3-5 seconds after fill, and then BANG rcd tripped again.
So i thought test it with no water. drained all water out switched off main inlet, choose a wash but skipped straight to spin and drai,n great works no faults, letthe cycle finish. so tried a wash again filled up with water and then the quiteness, BANG rcd tripped again.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as it been a great great machine

Hello,
It would seem to me that the heating element needs replacing from the information you have supplied especially as it performs most of the other functions like filling and spin and drain.
Good luck

Hi Ian.
I am assuming your RCD is fitted in your consumer unit (fuse-box)?
If so, then the chances of this being the cause is minimal. The RCD trips wen electricity is not balanced between live and neutral wires - which means some is leaking out to elsewhere - which it shouldn't because it is dangerous.
It would have helped if you had indicated how old your machine is, and how much use it has had but I am currently leaning towards the motor have several winding options that kick in (or not) depending on the spin speed. It would therefore be a motor fault, or something as simple as the brushes are disintegrating (which is often accompanied by hesitant and intermittent behaviour from the motor). These types of faults mean that some of the electricity may be leaking to the motor casing and then to earth.
I would recommend you call an engineer or if you have decent DIY skills, locate a replacement motor (ebay or the likes) and swap it out.
Good luck
David
Hi Amanda: We will try to help with this problem, keeping in mind that many modern washing machines display error codes if they detect a fault. These error codes are meant for engineers and often they indicate just an area to check or implicate several possible parts. If the error code is relating to something like an out of balanced load or problems taking in water or a problem emptying water then the error code will be explained in the users or instructional guide.
We can understand that your Zanussi machine stops shortly after starting? If this is right, thermostats, heater elements, drain pumps, water inlet valves, programers and fan motors are the kind of things that can cause this problem. Having this fault put right is normally the cheapest option.
If this previous afirmation that we send it to you isn't right, try to note this error code or code number to send you additional details to solve it or parts replacement (if its necessary).

as you do not mention make /age of machine and was this a sudden fault ? for now best to carry out the simple progress of elimination as to what is causing trip out to operate? start at the plug? check the wires in plug then wiring to machine motor for any damage to wires insulation? have you tried another appliance in the socket ? to see if ok? if trip operates then investigate socket ? any more info ? would help to advise on further options ?
I have a zanussi jetsystem iz16s and it keeps pausing just after its filled up with water and coming up e20 (I think thats the error code) any ideas what the problem might be.
