Which number is the serial number? Is it it the ds number or the number above that?

The serial number is located on a sticker in the battery compartment.

You can't get the serial number without your papers. My daughter peeled those silly little stickers off of 2 units and I contacted Nintendo about retrieving the serial numbers. You simply cannot without your receipt or similar.

Serial numbers are usually on the machine...try looking in the battery compartment after removing the batteries.

I just bought a used DM-40, and formatted my device before reading that I lost the voice guide files. I tried the above links and s/n for installing DSSplayer 7 but no joy. Does anyone have the files who would be willing to email them to me, and tell me which folder to place them in? Or provide a working s/n for a v7 installation? Thanks, Mike

I don't think the serial number is required to install the software. I didn't see DS-30 information on the Olympus website. DS-40 was the closest one. No information was availbable regarding serial numbers.

I have a VN-4100PC and don't recall being asked for a serial number. The software is the same thing for all Olympus players.

The answer is all in the serial number you use to install the DSS player!

Look carefully and you will see the recorder disk has in my case an [E] printed above the install serial number and the transcription pedal has [T]

Install the same disk with the E the driver is there, the control in Control Panel is there, but the foot switch does not work with the software. Put in the serial number with the [T] and foot switch works first time!

If you uninstall the play and then reinstall with the [T] serial number you do not need to reboot or even unplug the foot switch from the USB.

Turn in the theft to the police. They check serial numbers from pawn shops. Go luck thought, they really don't care.
